re: My issue with formula

Quoting Shannonsfirst:" ugh...the ol 'Its D and D' Okay, then lets discuss it. I see what you are saying on the formula advertisement. ... [snip!] ... the others are doing that, they address the other issues these women are having regarding successful, healthy breastfeeding. "

Yeah that is what I am hoping. I know there have been a couple more organizations popping up to help and America is trying to get all breastfeeding friendly now with Obamacare which is kinda cool. I also heard that places in Europe made the advertisement illegal all together.

Governments are trying to get more involved because they think it will help with some of the health issues and it will save them money in the long run especially those with universal health care.

In Australia companies aren't allowed to advertise for formula developed for children under the age of 12 months, and even with those there has to be a breast is best disclaimer before hand. When I was researching formula brands online I had to agree to a waiver before I could get onto the companies website.
I had my son in a public hospital and even though my son was sick due to his inability to digest my breastmilk, the midwives pushed me for two days to breastfeed. I had to see 2 lactation consultants and breastfeeding specialist before my doctor would even prescribe formula. Even then my visiting midwife guilted me into feeling like smurf every visit for not breastfeeding.

This is pretty sad and I'm glad we don't have this issue in the UK. Here in any advertisement there has to be a disclaimer saying that breast is best, they just wouldn't be allowed to say something like closer to breastmilk than ever

You keep saying that the WHO is unbiased and a proponent of breast feeding and that's why you trust them?

So, if they are so pro-breast feeding, why did they take money from Nestle?

Quoting EpicThunderCat!:" Have you tried taking funagreek and blessed thistle to increase your supply? You should buy some funagreek ... [snip!] ... is better then none at all. Always. <3 Have you thought about making your own home made formula? What about donor milk? "

Tried it all. He just takes to a bottle much easier than the breast. I am still planning on nursing as much as I can but I can't beat myself up over it because I have my toddler to take care of too. I am not about to make my own formula and I am really not about to give my baby someone else's milk. That just sort of freaks me out even though I was willing to donate my milk when I was EBF my oldest before I could no longer pump anything out. Just how life goes though and I made a strong effort but it isn't worth the stress as that will only decrease my supply even more.
