(Is there an official crochet thread I could ask in, so I'm not making new posts all the time lol?)
I'm (trying to) making this.

I'm pretty sure I've got my circle sussed so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It says to do 2dc in each of the magic circle dc (there's 12 in the circle) but when I come to the end I'm not completely sure where to stop, and when I count my stitches I've done I have either 23 or 25 depending where I stop.. Shouldn't there be 24 dc in my second round since I'm doing 2dc in 12 stitches ?
This is the first time I've tried to follow a written pattern. I've always used YouTube until now.
Maybe if I post some pics it would be more clear lol.

Are you counting the chain 2 as one of the dc?? If so, that could be why you're coming up with 25

Umm. No. I've pulled it apart started again si many times lol.
So there should be 24 right? I wasn't sure how many there should be so now I can see where I've gone wrong hopefully!

The pattern says to do 5dc in one stitch then skip 4, 5dc then skip 4, etc all the way around. But when I'm almost at the end of the row I have exactly enough 'skip' stitches left, so I just skipped the 4 and did the slip stitch to finish off the row.. Do you think that's why it's so small? Should I do one last dc in the very last stitch right before I do the slip stitch?

Hm... I don't know. The part at the top is what determines how big the hat will be. Maybe if you make another one, add a few more stitches to the top? I measure my daughters head, and then I make a chain that is that long so I know how many stitches I'm going to need in the hat, if that makes since? So like for her head, I need 50 stitches around the hat. So I do this:
Magic ring with 9 dc, join, chain 2, 2 dc in each st around, join, chain 2, *2dc then 1dc in the next stitch, repeat from *, join, ch 2... etc etc until I get to the 50 stitches.
That probably doesn't make much sense..
On another note, the hat is totally adorable!

I totally get what you mean!
The band bit at the bottom is all sl st, and there's no stretch at all, so I might undo that bit and do a single crochet instead an see if that changes anything?
Thanks I'm pretty impressed with it and proud if myself for a first time lol.

That actually probably would help it stretch a bit!
