Glucose testing
posted 6th Jan
Is supposed to be done between 24-28 weeks. I'll be 28w3d when I'm seeing my dr next. I know none of y'all are doctors but I figured if ask for opinions anyway. I've had 2 previous pregnancies and never tested positive for gestational diabetes. So, if I've never had it and have no signs/symptoms of having it now, u think I should get the test done? I'm paying out of pocket for this pregnancy bc I don't have insurance so it'd b a couple hundred dollars and I'm already a few thousand behind.

GD can show up even with previous healthy pregnancies and you may not have any symptoms which is why it is important to get tested. I would talk to your doctor about the best thing to do if you don't really have the money for it. Have you checked into state insurance? Could help you out.

hey.i got diagnosed with gestational diabetes around 28 weeks..i had no signs of it at all. you can have it with one pregnancy and not the other..if you decide not to get tested, i would say just watch what you eat.im sure any doc would recommend getting it done but since you are paying out of pocket,i would just eat really healthy from now til the end if you don't get tested.i would personally get tested cause it is something that can cause a lot of complications if not treated properly..if you are already a few thousand behind, why not add a few hundred more.that is crazy that it cost that much for a blood test.if you know someone with a diabetes glucose test,i would say test yourself with it also
