This is getting frustrating..

posted 6th Jan
My son has been doing this really weird thing lately. He just trying to couple months ago. Sometimes he won't swallow his food for several hours. He walks around and hums while its in his mouth. If I ask him to spit it out he gets really mad and hum-yells at me and throws a fit. He doesn't have trouble swallowing because he also swallows food whenever he wants to. He only does this for certain foods. And eventually becomes either naptime or bedtime and he has to get it out RLC could choke So I have to open up his mouth and pull it out And then he gets really mad and spits it all out and it looks like a big pile of goober. Then it looks like he vomited. If I try to talk to him or asking a question while he has the food in his mouth he just shrugs his shoulders and hums and mumbles. He keeps his lips tight and moves them around. He's doing this daily. Anyone have any experience with this?

I was using voice typing so that explains the errors lol like Rlc meant or else he, and I said he's two.

I worked in a daycare and a little girl would do this everyday at lunch. I would have to have her spit it out before naptime. She didnt put up a fight with spitting it out though. We just decided when she starts storing her food she must be full and take her plate away. This was almost 10 years ago to I dont have too much help to offer. I'm sorry. I guess if you notice him starting to put it in his mouth and not swallow take his plate away till he outgrows it.

My 16 month old does the same thing. She doesn't fight spitting it out. I have no idea why she does it. I call her my little hamster lol

I would make him keep sitting at the table until he was done eating. He'll probably stop doing it quickly when he's not allowed up to play.

Well we took dh to work at 11 and he are an apple then, it stayed in his mouth during the car ride and now it's almost one and he's been confined in a dark ( not pitch dark but not well lit) room where I said he stays until it comes out. He just sits on the ground and moves his lips and hums.

He'll go for hours even if he's strapped down in a high chair.

When he's empty mouthed he speaks very well, but when he does this he won't talk at all, just hum and point...
