Aidan/Aiden/Cayden/etc Trivia
posted 6th Jan
Here's some interesting trivia:
In 2011, here's how many babies were born with each of these names-
Aiden = 15,389
Aidan = 3,685
Ayden = 6,085
Cayden = 2,548
Caden = 3,018
Caiden = 1,214
Kaden = 3,261
Kayden = 4,244
Jayden = 16,861 (births prior to 1994 through all of known history = 0)
Jaden = 3,777
Jaiden = 2,350
Brayden = 8,962
Braden = 1,329
Hayden = 6,240
Kaiden = 2,386
Add those up and it comes out to: 81,349 (just in 2011)
and that doesn't even include several dozen more spelling variations. In fact, it doesn't even include all the spelling variations that made it into the top 1000 most common name list. Add all those up and it'd be at least 90,000
To put that in perspective, the #1 most common name of 2011, Jacob, had 20,153 (and spelling variations to add to that list were very minimal, less than 1000 Jakob's). Less than 1/4 the number of Aiden variations.
Further perspective, the most common name of the 20th century, James, only had one year (1947) that ever surpassed the 90,000 number. The second most common name of the 20th century, John, has never had a year that reached this number, ever (and it was the most common name for several decades in a row).
Damn...

That is going to suck when my kids have 8 classmates named Jayden/Aiden/Caden/Braiden and all the variations. LOL

Hence why I would never use an -aden name

So pretty much all these kids are going to have the same or very similar names in school. Aiden's best friend will be Kayden who will have a girlfriend named Jaiden who's brothers name is Brayden... yeah thats confusing.

Exactly why I want to puke seeing it.

I know a husband and wife named Skye. One goes by Skye and one goes by Skye Marie. So it may not be just the name. Because when these two were born Skye wasnt a completely over popular name

I've wanted to name my son Aiden since I was younger. Aiden George, but Aiden is my poppy and George is my grandpa.

I get it, my step son is 6 1/2 and his name is Aydon. We can't go ANYWHERE without hearing his name 1000xs. Sorry bud, I did not pick your name!
However. My daughter's name is Addelyn ( 3 1/2) and we call her Addy, with all the Addisons out there Addy is crazy popular. This popularity issue is why I will NOT even consider a name that is any higher than 400 for the past couple years.

They are going to go through the same thing I did Jennifer is an over popular name and from 5th to 8th grade there were five us all in the same class in high school there where over 30 of us. I hated it people thought it was funny to randomly yell Jen just to have us all turn around and say what at the same time. The worst part is the most common middle name for Jennifer is Lynn so besides our last names most of us had the exact same name.
