I breastfeed my son still and I was on the mini pill after I had him and then switched to the Depo shot, both which are safe to take since there is no estrogen in them.

Any birth control should be fine so long as there is no estrogen in it, unless you or your baby has a severe reaction to it. Both me and my son got flushed from my second shot and he got real itchy but there was nothing I could really do but to let it run its course. The next day he was fine and so was I, so it just depends on the person.

I'm late on this.. but I used the patch BC for years, and would still be on it if hubby hadnt had a vasectomy. I used it while BF. I BF 3 of my 4 kids, 2 of them for nearly 2 years with no side effects. with my youngest, the doctor told me he doesn't usually prescribe it to BF moms because it can decrease milk supply. but since I had used it before and not had any supply issues, he prescribed it.
