How should I go about this?

I've been having gallbladder attacks for over a year now. I actually had one last night for the first time in four months.

I've been to the ER twice because the pain was too much, but neither hospital would give me an ultrasound to check for gallstones. They just gave me morphine (which didn't even help) and sent me home.

I don't have insurance. What can I do? Just deal with it?

I had to pay to go to a regular doctor before I got any sort of ultrasound.

Can't you set up a payment plan if you don't have insurance?

Only some places. And some want a large down payment.

I would check into obamacare plans to see what you can purchase of qualify for for a low cost. You can call any major company (Anthem, etc) and get quotes. Lower rates have been available since July I believe.

An infected gallbladder is not something that should go untreated.

I would stop going into the ER and schedule an appointment with a regular physician and let him know what's been going on so they can decide whether it would behoove you to have it removed.

Hmm, that sucks. I've never been in this kind of predicament so I'm no help.. But I'd still check into payment plans and saving up for a down payment.

I have the same issues , luckily morphine works for me cause I thought I was dying my first attack .. when I went to the er they couldn't do an ultrasound cause of the weekend. .... Yea ..... They told me to get one at the doctor office but it would cost 2,000 for it .!!! Our hospital now has a plan to where if u don't have insurance they have a medical plan that covers most of it and u pay like twenty % , crazy I figured all hospitals would have this plan ....

Coming from someone who has worked in an ER, we never did emergent gallbladder ultrasounds. They aren't technically emergent according to doctors. And also radiology techs have to be specially trained to do ultrasounds so its a valid thing for not having ultrasounds on weekends and nights.

As for doctors...find one that has a discounted rate. Or one that has a sliding fee.

Yea I didn't understand why they couldnt at the time :-/ I'm just glad its been a long while since iv had one cause the nearest er is ten min away and they won't treat ob's
