Obsessive Behavior?

posted 6th Jan
I'm not sure where to put this, so I put it in here being that I think it comes along with my bipolar and anxiety.
I have a counselor, but I never see her, and I feel awkward calling and asking to go or even just talking to her. She's new, my other one doesn't work there anymore. I quit going to her anyway because she sucked, but now it just feels weird to try to go with me not really knowing the new one. I am medicated, but I still have some issues with trying to control some obsessive behaviors I have. I'd rather not say what they are, because I know some people will judge me for it and talk a lot of smurf to me that I'm just not prepared to handle. I'm just not sure how to make myself let go of things, stop obsessing over them, and move on... Any advice would be appreciated!

Also this is a protected forum so those who say anything bad will get modded

Thank you
I thought about just googling it, but there's sooooo much stuff I just get overwhelmed and give up.

I suggest.seeing.that therapist. She could help you and you might like her. A lot of the time, with obessive issues, you need someone who is trained to deal with those issues to help you over come them. I wish you the best

Yeah, she had me meet her once, and she seemed really friendly. She calls me periodically just to check up on me, it's just really awkward and uncomfortable for me. Not to mention dealing with BD. He likes to tease me sometimes and he thinks I'm weird for even taking medicine, so having to explain to him why I need to leave the baby with him for like 2 hours wouldn't be fun.

I think its always akward to tell a strange your personal issues. When I see a new therapist I usually spend a session or two just getting to know each other before I talk about my problems. Some therapists are perfectly fine with that. Maybe she will be willing to do that until you are more comfortable. Also, dont let BD make you feel like that. We all have our issues. Yours just requires more attention. Nothing wrong with that. How old is your LO? If he or she is young enough then he/she can go with you. I used to take my DD with me to my appointments because I'd have no one to watch her and she was still at an age that she didn't understand what was going on.

She's 17 months. Not old enough to know what's going on, but old enough to keep me distracted from what I'm talking about because she tries to tear everything up lol

I've been gone most of the day from the site. But figured I would still weigh in on this.

I have extremely obsessive behaviors. We are working through it, my therapist and I. When I catch myself being obsessive I have to stop the behavior right away. And then write it down. That is one tip.

I would suggest seeing a therapist. As soon as you can. To help yourself you need to do this. Your BD should be able to keep your DD for a therapy appointment. And for him to make fun of you for taking medications makes me

Ill probably try to do that. Is the writing it down thing to make you a little more aware of yourself doing it?
