You have twisted most everything I've said. Typical.

You ARE a "Feminazi" if you think that there is something wrong with private nursing. It also makes you an overbearing jerk.

I don't think I ever said, "All men and women are perverts who will get horny if they see me breastfeeding." Again, would you like to see how sexualized breasts are, in this culture, day and age?

Do MILLIONS of women get boob jobs so they can enhance their breastfeeding experience, ya think? Is it to feed their children? No. It is to have BIG TITS that certain kinds of men will be drawn to.

Don't sit here and tell me about what other countries do and what their social norm is. It doesn't affect me. It's completely inconsequential what they do or don't do. I don't wear kilts....because I don't live in Scotland. When in Rome...

Oh for sure there are men that get off on lactating women. There are men who get off on women who wear yoga pants, tube socks, pregnant women, some even like clowns, furries, balloons, you name it. I guess I just don't operate my life around what someone else gets off on. I am pretty sure in some way I qualify for someone's fetish every waking moment of the day.

As far as where you nurse for convenience sake, I can't fathom anyone having an issue with that ever. My older in particular went through a phase that nursing him anywhere other than a quiet alone place was pointless. he was off more than on & often dragging his teeth when he came off.   During that time I did no real public nursing as I couldn't. It just wasnt' working for either of us & even when at home, Dh would either have to leave the room or I would & the TV and all other noisy things had to be off. ANYTHING that might catch his curiosity was something he'd have to stop nursing to check out before continuing.

I don't ever care where another woman chooses to nurse. What I do care about is whether or not she supports other women in nursing in public.

When I was in Europe women were topless at beaches & they nursed openly everywhere. Funny enough but Dh was totally at ease with women nursing everywhere (despite that this was before we had kids & he had very little prior exposure to nursing) but he was visibly uncomfortable at the beach. LOL We were there for a bit though & he got past it. I am sure all people could if they were just exposed to it more & then it becomes what IS normal.

I think it would do the best thing ever for nursing if they would just go to topless at North American beaches. The reason nursing is seen so oddly is because we don't actually fetishize breasts. We fetishize the nipple. It is the ONE thing you can't actually show legally. Everything else you can get away with as long as nipple is covered. So we take the ONE part that actually is required to nurse & make that like the highlight of the fetish itself. If we just took nips out of hiding, I think this whole issue would go away. poof

My point is not moot because this is about MY comfort level, not anyone else's. I'm comfortable eating, wearing sandals or anything else you mentioned. That's where the difference is.

Nurse your way, encourage nursing ....that's all great. But don't ridicule someone who just thinks differently than you. We both breastfeed.

I haven't shamed you. If you feel shame that is your own doing. You have called me names (crazy, loon, feminazi, among others) and been rude to me. I have simply stated where and how I disagree with you. I used the term closed minded and ridiculous---that's the closest I have come to shaming you. Any shame you feel is your own.

But I DO support it. Maybe if I saw it more my walls would come down.

But telling me I'm uneducated and ignorant a.d "hurting the cause" just makes no sense.

No one ever got "converted" by getting hit over the head with a Bible and no one is going to be shamed into nursing in public.

I think it's a wonderful thing and I encourage it. It doesn't bother me in the least, being around it.

Million of women get boob jobs because they don't like themselves enough. That is a whole different topic. Lots MORE women get other work beyond that done like lip enhancements & such in much larger numbers than those that get implants. Plastic surgery & the need to be "better looking" is a debate unto itself.

The sticking point you are missing over & over in what you say that IS part of the problem in our cultural perception of infant feeding is you are putting sexual first...always. Repeatedly YOU say they are sexual (they aren't - they are objectified, fetishized, sexualized, not sexual, which is measurable & provable due to cross cultural study if you read my links) and THEN say "as well as functional", as if that is the secondary function. And it's not a typo - that is the way you talk about it over & over & over through the whole debate. You also do say that "most women" and "men" (I would think you meant men, like as whole as you didn't say "western men") find breasts sexual.

The only time I used "uneducated" was when I said (paraphrased) "if you don't recognize that nursing in public raises breastfeeding rates/duration, THEN you're uneducated" ---in didn't call anyone uneducated.

I've read it, agree with you. Some people are just obnoxious and cannot empathize with others. I feel the same way about NIP and although I will if I need to, I'd just rather not. Does it contribute to a negative view of NIP? Absolutely not, thats like saying girls who are self conscious about their body are to blame for the media's portrayal of women.
