Quoting ~Julie Blue Eyes~:" <blockquote><b>Quoting justanothamotha:</b>" It is ignorant & uneducated to keep ... [snip!] ... completely inconsequential what they do or don't do. I don't wear kilts....because I don't live in Scotland. When in Rome..."
Million of women get boob jobs because they don't like themselves enough. That is a whole different topic. Lots MORE women get other
work beyond that done like lip enhancements & such in much larger numbers than those that get implants. Plastic surgery & the need to be "better looking" is a debate unto itself.
And you are a magician if somehow you read between any
of the lines that I wrote that I said ANYTHING negative about private nursing. Find ONE quote. GL! I'll wait while you go get it & paste it here. Can't? That's right. Maybe you think I twisted something, but at least I don't put words in your mouth.
" Breasts are sexual, as well as functional"
"Bummer for you if they are ONLY '"tools". They aren't for most women"
"The culture, in America (where I live and breathe) is one where breasts are sexual as well as functional."
"Men like boobs. Go ahead, deny it. Doesn't make it any less true."
The sticking point you
are missing over & over in what you say that IS part of the problem in our cultural perception of infant feeding is you are putting sexual first...always. Repeatedly YOU say they are sexual (they aren't - they are objectified, fetishized, sexualized, not
sexual, which is measurable & provable due to cross cultural study if you read my links) and THEN say "as well as functional", as if that is the secondary
function. And it's not a typo - that is the way you talk about it over & over & over through the whole debate. You also do say that "most women" and "men" (I would think
you meant men, like as whole as you didn't say "western men") find breasts sexual.
I don't give a rats ass if you have Dh suck your boobs till the cow's come home & think it's the bees knees. Hell I don't care if you have Dh's BFF do it while Dh watches. I don't care if you nurse in your car, a bathroom, or wherever you please. I do
care if you try to make me give a smurf that my culture has some serious hangups about normal human biology
& act like I am an asshat for not buying into it or so oblivious I haven't noticed the cleavage in my face constantly whenever I pick up a magazine or turn on the TV. Not buying into it is not the same thing as being in denial it exists. I know it exists
, I just refuse to participate. There are lots of ugly parts of our culture.
