Probably really stupid question.

How do you know if you got your period or if you are just still bleeding from birth.?

You probably wont get your period until at least 4 weeks after you give birth, and by that time your bleeding will have slowed down quite a bit. I remember my first period after birth was terrible, so there was no question.

I know that's not much help, but that's my experience!

You will bleed for 2-7 days after you give birth. It will stop. a few weeks later, if you bleed again, it's your period.

It was heavier. It also was 3 months after. So I had stopped bleeding for about 6 weeks.

bleeding from pregnancy lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. Sometimes a little more or little less than that. For me, if it was postpartum related bleeding, there would only be a day or less from not bleeding to bleeding again. My period normally came 2 weeks or more after my bleeding fully stopped.

Many people actually bleed for several weeks.

I was always told it wasn't a period until it was after 6 weeks. That being said I bled for 8 weeks straight. and got my period two weeks later.

It can be a lot longer than that. I bled for a month straight.

My doctor said more than 7 days and to go in because there could be something seriously wrong. Had a roommate who bled for 2 weeks and she looked like she was fricken dying. I had to drag her dumbass to the hospital lol She had no energy and was pale as a sheet   That's craziness if that is more common now O.O

I don't think it has anything to do with being common "now" it's just normal. She could have had other issues like anemia and such.

In don't know ANYONE in real life who bled for less than a month. At all. My doc said at least 3 weeks with a vag birth, a little less for Cs because they clean you out more.

Yeah I've bled 9 weeks in a row with my first and I was never anemic. I also never had to go to the hospital. There is no way that you can shed 9 months worth of built up uterine lining in a week after giving birth.
