Vent

I just need to vent bc no one is here to vent to right now

This morning, as he does sometimes, FIL showed up unexpectedly.Of course I was in shorts with my ass hanging out and no bra, because that is wha tI wear on lazy days around the house. It's annoying as crap. And for some reason he likes to have his best friend meet him here, which is stupid bc he lives across the street. Why FIL doesn't just go to his friend's house when they want to hang out or meet up is beyond me. Anyway so they meet here to go for a walk. He tells me and DS that when they get back, he will take DS up the road to the cafe for lunch. Well like 2 hours later I realize he hasn't come back, look out the window, and his truck is gone. I assume he got soaked since it started raining while they were on their walk, but of course DS was upset bc FIL told him he would take him to the cafe. FIL is like one of DS's favorite people in the world and he LOVES going up there with him. (technically the "cafe" is a run down old gas station that sells hamburgers lol)

So then FIL calls me tonight at like 8 to explain why he didn't come back (the rain, as I'd thought). I told him about DS getting upset about it. Then he asks if we are gonna be home tomorrow and I tell him yes. Then he says he wants to have a prayer group at my house at noon tomorrow. Okay we do have prayer group here sometimes, but it's always been at night and with at least a few days notice. You don't just invite people over to someone else's house with no notice or anything. It's freaking rude.

And since I'm venting, I'm pretty pissed off that yesterday I got a call from DH (he's offshore) reminding me not to let DS play near the road bc apparently the neighbors saw him playing by the road and didn't see me out there with him, so they called FIL and then he told DH to tell me. First off, I watch my kid. He doesn't play near the road, and definitely doesn't go without me. They've called FIL before about me letting him check the mail (WITH ME). They just want to get in someone's business. If they really thought he was in danger then they are smurf awful people for not intervening or calling me to say "Hey did you know your kid is outside?" I mean damn.

I will be so glad when we can move away from here.

Okay I feel better now.

If I was inappropriately dressed, I just wouldn't answer the door. And if the neighbors kept up their crap, I would have a conversation with them.

I agree I'm definitely not one to stand for other people's crap. If you have a problem say it to my face. I'd definitely be telling the neighbours its none of their business, and as for your FIL, I'd be telling him if he wants to have meetings and such he can do it in his own home. As that is NOT his home he has no right to invite people over, especially without clearing it with you first...

It gets complicated because the neighbors are FIL's cousins, and the house we live in used to belong to FIL's dad before he died. So I guess they are just used to meeting here, but... it's annoying.

DH has talked to him about the random appearances but it hasn't done much. We've lived here for a year and a half now. If I didn't answer and my car was outside, he'd probably let himself in. He has an emergency key. I have had suspicion that he comes in when we're not home for a long time. He DEFINITELY hangs out outside when we aren't here. I've come home to the garbage cans brought in, the rocking chairs moved, DS's powerwheels moved from where we left it (he doesn't like where we leave it because it's easily seen from the road I guess).

ummm... i don't think i'd give a smurf if he was family or not and be changing the locks. i'm sorry, but that's just creepy. if one of my family members are going to be at my house when i'm not there (sometimes my brother comes to hang out in between his college classes because it's closer than him going back home), i at least get a call/text asking if it's ok and letting me know they'll be there. i'm sorry if he's used to meeting with his friends over there, but that's pretty damn inconsiderate of him. i really would change the locks.
