So inpatient (vent)

posted 5th Jan
Gah! My heart monitor recorded at least 3 times by itself but Cardionet cant tell me if any of the recordings were arrhythmias. All they can tell me is that they arent deadly. I have to wait till the 17th of this month to find out the results from my doctor. And these darn electrode pads are KILLING my skin. Its so itchy and red.

I just want to know whats going on!

Are you wearing a Holter monitor? It could be detecting PVCs or PACs. Why are you wearing it? What's been going on?

I'm wearing the Dual alert Afib one from Cardionet. Its a "looping auto trigger" monitor. I've had episodes for years that happen every once in a blue moon where I feel short of breath, woozy, pressure on my chest and get palpitations that feel very odd and fast . I always feel the palpitations in my throat and it makes me do these little annoying coughs. My family has a very strong history of a-fib and tachycardias at a young age so my doctor was concerned and sent me to my dad's cardiologist.

I'm praying that its nothing but the monitor has recorded at least 3 times by itself. I havent felt the symptoms at all though. I'm hoping the cardiologist schedules me for the gene test when I go back. Supposedly, a-fib can run in families.

Are you on any meds for your heart?

No. I havent been diagnosed with anything yet. I was in denial for a long time and tried to play it off as anxiety. My GP made me go to the cardiologist and the cardiologist hasnt said anything yet. My stress test came back normal.

My dad's side has electrical problems with their hearts. None of them lived past 60 which scares the living day lights out of me.

Did you have a baseline EKG? Did that show any abnormalities? I hope whatever is going on is something simple!

I've had a few EKGs before and nothing ever showed up on them. I dont know if they were baseline. Is it just the normal routine EKG?

I take after my dad alot but I'm praying my heart is like my mom's! lol

There are 2 different types, a 5 lead and a 12 lead. The 12 lead shows more electrical activity, and is used for diagnostic purposes. Sorry for all the questions. I'm nosy, lol.

I dont mind at all. I enjoy learning new things especially medical related. I still wish I went into that field or became a chef! rofl. To completely different occupations.

I think it was only 5 leads. She didnt put many on me. I dont remember them putting that many on me during the stress test either. Actually, the stress test had a lot of wires coming from the small unit connected to the big machine so that might have had 12. There were two rows of leads coming out during the stress test.
