Lord forgive me...

For ever bragging about not having morning sickness last time around. I am currently living on tums, warm sprite and dry toast. This blows, literally.

(yes, I'm pregnant, but to my FB friends on here, shhhhh I haven't announced it to the real word yet!)

Karma is a bitch!!! My first pregnancy was wonderful and I (shamefully admitting) kinda bragged to my sick, miserable pregnant friends. But boy oh boy did I pay. My second was horrible!!! Constant "morning" sickness for the first 4 months!

Not a good diet considering you arent supposed to have any kind of meds (unless prescribed) in the first 12 weeks :/

Tums is just calcium carbonate, not really considered meds and universally regarded as safe.

I've read (I know, makes me an expert right/ lol) Anywho....that Tums can make heartburn worse because you have to produce more acid to break them down. Liquid antacids are more effective. just NO Pepto. It has some of the same meds as asprin (which we know is a no,no while pregnant)

It was on my list of 'don't take in the first 12 weeks' that my dr gave me

Yeah, well, it's better than nothing at all, don't you think? And Tums is fine in moderation.

Cause you're the expert, right? Tums is safer than Zofran and Phenergan, which are both class C meds and aren't even proven to be safe for the fetus. Give the girl a break.

I feel your pain girl. I was so sick for the first six months, which was all summer long. Nothing stayed down, until my doctor introduced me to Zofran. What a life saver. I lost so much weight my first trimester and in the beginning of my second.

What I noticed made my sickness worse was eating then drinking, or vice versa. If I wanted to drink, I would drink then wait about a half hour, same went with eating. I could not mix the two or else I'd throw up. Don't let yourself get too hungry either- that made my sickness worse when I did eventually eat.

This is untrue. In the first 12 weeks my OB gave me a list of things I could take if I needed to. I could have tums, vitamin B6 for nausea, benadryl, was told I could take tylonol and robotussin for a cough, and was prescribed Tylonol with codeine and amoxicillin for a wisdom tooth as well.
Tums are fine.

No, smartass, I'm not. I was just saying that it was on the list of things not to take in the first 12 weeks that I got from my dr. Especially when she said basically her diet was those 3things...

I found out after 5 pregnancies with no morning sickness ever and with the 6th being constant morning sickness since day 1 pretty much that the best thing is to wake up eat a couple crackers then chew winterfresh gum pretty much all day. For some odd reason this helped so much

Oh yeah since I read through some of the complaints on this post I would like to point out that this diet is fine the first 12 weeks as long as you are able to get your prenatal vitamin down. Feel free to contact me if everyone drives you crazy over this. I believe I have more kids than everyone who has posted on this combined. I wish you luck on your pregnancy. Grumpy 2nd trimester night lol.
