Toddler car seat help please.

posted 5th Jan
My son is 3 years old, next baby due at the end of August. My son will not be 4 until October.

He only weighs 33.6lbs. I really dont think he will be in a booster seat before hes 4 due to his light weight.

He currently has a my ride 65 and I hate the effn thing. I would love something that doenst sit a foot in the air as getting him in and out is not going to be fun when Im 8 months pregnant.

So...anyone know of something better suited for him at this stage?

My 4 year old is 29 pounds. He is in an evenflo triumph and I absolutely love it, I bought one for the baby too... But they are pretty tall   however, i haven't had any issue with it even though I'm pregnant.. if i'm achey, he can climb in himself..

i have a britax marathon for my 6 year old. she's had it since she was a year or 2. it sits up high too, but she has always just climbed in herself.

That's a great carseat!! I've heard awesome things about it and it should last you quite a while so he can be in a 5 point harness longer (safer!!) before transitioning to a booster.

You have? Thats great. And yeah, this would be good now and he would be safe, and I really have no desire to put him in one of those little tiny seats...they kinda scare me.

Thanks! Its at TRU for 200....but maybe it will be worth it, and the new one can use it when he/she reaches 22 lbs.

I like how the seat will actually be on the seat.
The my Ride sits so high from the seat of the car that he can climb in but its a freakn challenge. In the way he sits in the my Ride you cant put the front seat back very far. My 280lb 6 foot brother did not have a comfortable drive to my mothers house 45 mins away the other day lol

Both Cullen and Ridley have Safety 1st car seats, I love them! Cullen has the Safety 1st Complete Air 65. It goes up to 65lbs and has an adjustable headrest and positioning as the child gets bigger. The seat can sit straight up, like a high back booster, since Cullen is only 32lbs and I don't see him getting to 40lbs by the time he is 4 he is going to be in the seat for a quite a while longer.

It is a taller seat, but with it positioned straight Cullen can easily climb in on his own (but it might depend on the car you have.) And it might also depend on if he is still RF. We just switched Cullen around, but he could climb in either way.

(its an older pic)

I would highly recommend a Britax Frontier 85, if your son is already FF'ing. It harnesses to 85lbs and boosters to 120lbs. It has a 9 year expiration, so even the next baby will get use out of it. It sits flush on the cars seat, 2 cup holders, true side impact protection and [my fave feature] non rethreading harness! Ours is PINK...lol Our daughter [5yo] LOVES this seat!!!
