This explains much better what I was told in church.

See the thing with becoming a Christian Is learning the bible. But to be a Christian we all start by loving Jesus and god. This is what I teach my Sunday school kids. They don't know the whole bible so how could they possibly believe it all of they don't know it all. The journey through Christianity is about learning more and building that relationship with Jesus. It becomes an intimate relationship and just as any relationship the closer you get the more you want to please them. So the closer you become with Jesus the more you will want to live in the word of god. But basically to be a Christian you have to believe in god and Jesus. Then you grow. There's no perfect christian. We're all learning and growing.

But, according to some that replied, I can not be a Christian because I don't believe in some of the bible. I don't understand that if you believe some is a lie, you have to believe it all is a lie.

What would that make me if I believed in Jesus and God, but not all of the bible? Would I have to make my own religion up? lol.

Sometimes believing some of the bible can be hard because it can be misinterpreted or not explained in a way you understand. My pastor is so good at explaining things in a way I understand and I've never been like :/ hmmm. If there's parts u don't agree with continue building your relationship with god and maybe he will help you at the right time to see it in te way he intended. Idk hardly anything in the bible yet. It's a lifelong journey. It takes time. It's not like the only people who are Christians are the ones who know the bible in and out. Some people will never fully understand it all. We have an adult Sunday school and there's lots of elderly people still learning about then bible in there. Don't let that affect you. Just focus on your personal relationship with god and Jesus and the rest will come in good time

The Bible states that it is the inerrant word of God. The authors of the Bible were led, spiritually, by God. The book of Revelation states that no one can add or take away from it.

If you are believing some, but not all parts of the Bible, by what measure are you doing so? When people do this, they are rejecting or accepting what their heart and mind want to agree with or accept. You really cannot filter the Bible this way.

This is exactly the reason that there are thousands of sects of "Christianity". Human interpretation is dangerously inaccurate. If something is a parable or not literal, the verses tell the reader as much.

Now, after saying that, not knowing the Bible because you haven't read it is completely different than having read it and rejecting what it says.
