Are you planning on asking for reimbursement for it? And are you planning on staying awhile!? I wouldn't waste my own money on a rental, but hopefully she will be happy that its an upgrade she doesn't have to pay for.

No I don't want reimbursement. I got a great deal and yes, I plan on staying for a long time. Totally worth it.

Is it in the lease that you will leave it as is (everything ) even upgrades is seen as damage. If she's an ass she can charge you got that. If ahe is not some power seeking landlord you should be fine. But just wait until she gets there to tell her.

I would probably play it off as a surprise for her aha. But really no matter how good it looks she'll probably be a little ticked off you did it without her permission.
