White poop?!
posted 5th Jan
I wanna say it's been going on for a week now. We got over a stomach bug last Sunday and ever since his poop has been white and VERY stinky. He also poops at least 4 times a day. I made the mistake of google searching and now I'm freaking out ):
Let me also add he does kind of drink alot of milk. He mostly has a liquid diet because he won't eat anything. His iron is low because of it.
Also what's making me scared is now all of the sudden he won't sleep and is very crabby. He just had his 15 months appt though and the doctor said he looked completely fine....
Like what are the chances that its his liver over/ virus, milk and not eating?
Because I can't take him to the er until Monday :/

I would defiantly keep an eye on it and at least call the dr. Sometimes white or chalky colored stool can be a result of a liver problem. Hopefully that isn't the case here

You should call the doctor.
Why can't you take him to the ER until Monday?

i've only heard of really bad things being the cause of white poop. if it were my child, i would have taken them to the hospital the first time it happened. maybe i'm overreacting, but that's what i would have done.

I would call the pediatrician if you can. It could be his body recovering from the viral infection, but white or pale stools can also be caused by liver and biliary complications that could be life threatening if not addressed promptly. His fussiness could be caused by pain or discomfort.

My husband is gone for work until Monday and I have no car. If I had to I could get my mom to come get me I just don't want to go unless its ABSOLUTELY an emergency because she's pretty far away.

I don't think your overreacting. I've never heard anything about white poop and he's gotten it ocassionally before but never this many days in a row which led me to research it

Call the pedi and see if he thinks it's an emergency? Are you actually in Ft. Lauderdale?

When my daughter was 13 months she had white poop and we were told to go directly to the emergency room. She ended up on IV antibiotics and fluids for 3 days. How's his skin color?

My son had white poop. When we took him to the ER, it was discovered that he has gallstones. I'd take your LO in... And bring a stool sample so they can look at it/test it.
