Warning: pictures of baby poo below! The flu has been going around our house. 4 year old is puking and my toddler and infant are having horrible poops. To me, this poop looked pretty red-ismu..rf looks brighter in person. I'm not sure though, I don't know what blood looks like mixed with poo... help please.

Typically, but not always, bloody stools look like tar. They also have a very different smell.

There was bright red streaks in there so I just assumed that's what it would look like.

It was smelly, but they have been since the flu bug has gone around the last few days. Very 'different' nasty smelling.

Has she eaten/drank anything today that was red/pink/orange?

She is only on formula.

My opinion is that it is not, but if you are concerned, does your pedi have an after-hours number you can call?

There is no number, she goes Monday for her 6 month check-up. I will keep an eye on her, though she's had poops like this for two days... she is acting pretty normal though so it's probably nothing. It just doesn't look right/normal is all...

Any Tylenol for fever? Anything at all. I know how scared you are I was the same way when mine were that small. I would just keep watching and if it gets any worse head to ER.

No, she was throwing up last week for two days, but nothing since then. I'm assuming her loose stools are the same bug her sisters have right now, but no fever so no meds.

I'm hoping she gets to feeling better. Please keep me updated on her. It could very well be from what all you have mentioned that with diarriah that she may have a few small cuts close to the anus that is causing the streaking. Which would mean yes it is blood in her stool but not from internal bleeding just from cuts from forceful exits. Kind of like our version of hemorrhoids. If it gets any worse contact the doctors emergency line. Keeping you and your babies in my prayers.
