Planned or Surprise?

posted 5th Jan
I can not believe I will be 37 weeks tomorrow!!! This pregnancy has flown by.

My pregnancy was a complete surprise but definitely a blessing. What is your story on your pregnancy and your reactions? I will never forget the day I first found out, I nearly fainted!

I never get my period but have occasional spotting here and there. I also have PCOS so I thought it would be a very difficult time to get pregnant when I was ready to have a family. My boyfriend I am with now told me he never wanted kids, he is 30, and had gotten a vascetomy years ago. Of course that was a problem for me since I always wanted a family but I stayed with him anyway. For over two weeks I had cramping and sore boobs and I obviously knew that was not normal. I thought maybe my period was finally going to come and start to regulate. My friend bought me a pregnancy test and I thought she was crazy! No way can I be pregnant! I said fine I will take it in the morning. When I saw 2 lines I laughed thinking no way in hell is this possible...but it was true! I called my boyfriend right away. "Hello?" "ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE FIXED?!" "Baby, yes how many times do I need to tell you, why, what is going on? I would never lie about this I have the papers." "Well, you are broken because I just took a test and it is positive and I did not cheat on you so don't get any ideas." He was laughing and said, "No way. That can not happen. If you are joking I am going to kick your ass but I am real busy at work we will talk when I get home." We had a rough few weeks. He left me, wanted nothing to do with me. He said I was selfish and not thinking of all of us. I refused to get the abortion he wanted. I could do it without him I have a lot of support. Here I am almost 37 weeks and feeling so blessed with a beautiful baby boy on the way. He is back in our lives and is ready to be a father like the good man I know he is. I am so happy he came back and matured up. I think he was in shock, scared and had no idea how to handle this since it was not what he wanted. I can't wait for my little baby to come into the world and we are finally ready.

He sounds like a good man, and I'm sure he'll love the baby even though he didn't plan on kids. Just the fact that he's committed to staying with you and raising his LO shows how much he loves you.

Thanks for sharing this, it gives me hope:-). That's nuts that his snip didn't take! Did he not go to his follow-up appointment after? Did his tubes regenerate or however it's called? Lol, I know it's none of my business so you don't have to answer that, I have a male friend that thought his snip took and didn't get his semen checked. He's now the proud father of a three-year-old.

We are boring I guess. We went by the "book" as it were, graduated college, got married, then year later TTC our first. Two years later TTC our second. I know I wouldn't of been able to handle a surprise baby when I was young so for that I am grateful.

We did everything backwards. We dated, got engaged, decided we wanted kids, had one planned pregnancy, bought our house, had another planned pregnancy, got married, then.... Our second child was 10mo old we had an 'oops' I waited 3wks and tested, it was positive. My sister took a test with me because she thought that she was pregnant too. We both got the opposite results that we wanted. I was sitting on the couch with the test in my hand when my husband came home from work, he walked through the door and without saying a word I handed him the test, he looked at it, went into the other room and threw it. We were not ready for another baby but she was coming anyway. I would not change it for the world, we now have a beautiful, spoiled, red-headed little girl. Then back in May/June I was about a week late for my period but I still felt like it was coming anyday, I was wrong. People had been joking that I was preggers again because I had been feeling sick and not myself. My husband insisted that I take a test and it came back positive and now we are expecting a boy in the next few weeks. Our first two out of wed-lock were planned and our second two were unplanned while married. Kind of funny how those things work out.

Definitely a HUGE surprise. I had juuuust landed a great job at Boeing, and we hadn't been dating very long at all. The timing couldn't be more wrong! I mentioned to him that I might be late, and he came home with tests while I cried on the phone to my best friend. At 24, I didn't think I was ready for such a huge life (& body!!) change. I was really into partying then.

I took the test, and was soo nervous that I couldn't read it right. I called Jason into the bathroom to look at the stick, and he got a HUGE smile on his face. I was a nervous wreck, but his support and love throuought the weeks has me feeling like the excited and confident future-mommy I knew I could be.

We're moving into our own place together at the end of the month, registering for the shower this morning, and couldn't be happier and more prepared! Baby boy Dominic Elijah is due March 25th.

He is. I have never been treated so greatly in many ways until he came along. I guess he was just overwhelmed way beyond words can describe. He got it done in his early 20s and said he never went for a follow up but was extra careful during the 6-12 month period. With all the people he’s been with since then…no accidents ever happened. When we told the doctor about him and my pregnancy he said it was possible these things can happen and she should go get checked with a specialist to see what caused it to fail. Except…he does not have insurance and has not been to doctors in years. It worries me that he doesn’t have any just in case something horrible happened and everything is just so damn expensive!

I'm 37 weeks today so we're very close   My husband and I started NTNP (not trying not preventing) in February. We got married in April. I have PCOS so we started not preventing pregnancy before getting married because I thought it would take a few months for it to even work. We got married April 19. I started my period April 21 & that was my last one. Found out I was pregnant May 27 at a truck stop in Alabama (my husband is a truck driver and I rode with him). At first I didn't think I was pregnant because my boobs were hurting really bad and I was cramping like my period was coming but after 10 days of it not showing up I decided to humor myself with a pregnancy test. Took it at 7:30 at night and it showed up positive within a minute. Couldn't believe it. I showed my husband and he made me take another one when we got home a few days later & it turned positive immediately before the urine even covered the whole test. Definitely preggers. Went to the health department that same day to get it confirmed. I wanted a little boy & my husband did too until the day he found out I was pregnant then he told me she was a girl. I had a feeling she was a girl too but figured I was wrong but nope. She's a girl   Lol just hope she hasn't been lying to us on all the ultrasounds and comes out a boy. At least we got a back up boy name if that happens lol
