induction/membrane sweep

posted 5th Jan
i had my membranes swept about 24 hours ago, and have feel cramping on and off that really hurts in my lower abdomen. it doesn't start in my back though, and the cramping isn't timeable, but it can occur when i'm lying down, walking, on my side, etc. is this normal after getting a sweep?

and for those ladies who have been 'induced' is it actually as bad as everyonr puts it to be? i have a ob appointment on monday (if i don't go into labour before then) and my ob is going to set up a date for me to be induced sometime that week. jan 7th-10th

Why would u get induced before you're even due?! It's not recommended until at least 42 weeks unless there's medical issues.

And yes the pain after the sweep is normal. As well as weird colors of mucus.

i'm also 2cm dilated, and 80 percent effaced. my ob said the baby is very low, and he can feel his head. can that mean baby is coming soon?

Probably. If you're so close why induce? Why not just let your body keep going?

i know it's not recommended, but my ob is the one that offered it to me a couple days before my due date. s/o is leaving the province for 6 months a few days after my due date and i feel that it's extremely important that he's there for the birth of his son, and first child.

I had my membranes swept with my daughter....I had cramping with it afterwards...my cousin said the same thing with hers.....as for induction, I have been induced twice, and I had no issues with them....the first was not my choice. The only thing is with my first induction was that I was being induced for 2 1/2 days before I had him....It was not painful or anything...I was just annoyed that it was taking so long...and finally the dr came in and said I was having the baby one way or another that day....and he finally broke my water and I had him not even a hour later. With my daughter, I got to the hospital at 10 am, they got 1 bad of fluids in me then started the induction process....they broke my water at about 12:35 and I got my epidural right after.....I had her at 1:10 pm.....I was in more pain when I went into labor on my own with my oldest, than I had with both inductions.

Induction is horrible... I almost died. I've had 2 sweeps. 1st one gave me horrible cramps and lots of mucus, no baby. Second one gave me nothing at all.
