Hope after 2 miscarriages?
posted 5th Jan
I am going through a second miscarriage in less than 6 months. I keep trying to tell myself that everything happens for a reason and it just wasn't our time. The doctors really have no answers for me, and just said I should wait at least 2 months before trying again. Part of me is so scared to try again because I am not sure I can emotionally and physically go through another miscarriage. My most recent miscarriage has been much more traumatic than my first. I have been in the er and the bleeding has been extremely heavy. I have a healthy 3.5 year old and I am so grateful for him, but I know my family is not complete. I guess I am looking for some reassurance. Has anyone suffered two miscarriages in a row and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy without doctor intervention? I just know in my heart if I have a 3rd miscarriage I will probably start looking into adoption. I just don't think I could continue to handle the heartache that comes with miscarriage. I wish I had some answers. The Doctor said in 6 weeks they could do a genetic screening, and would test my hormone levels and possibly start progesterone suppositories next time I do get pregnant. Thanks for any input or information I appreciate it.

First off let me say that nothing is thrown at you that you absolutely can't handle! You'll get through it
I experienced three missed miscarriages at 9 weeks and I gave up hope. The 4th time I got pregnant I was persistent and called my OB as soon as I found out. I was prescribed prometrium (progesterone supplements) and started taking them 3x/day. I am now almost 28 weeks pregnant and baby is growing well. I have been told (and from my own personal experience) that progesterone supplements have a very high success rate!
Good luck mama, and don't be too hard on yourself.

I had two MCs 3 months apart. My first pregnancy was smooth, and I have a healthy 4yr old. Im now 25 weeks with a healthy baby!! I was so upset to be pregnant again this time, I was convinced I would MC again. Its hard emotionally, but a healthy pregnancy can happen

Thank you It gives me hope that I can go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I was also 9 weeks this time. With both miscarriages the pregnancy starts off fine and I develop a yolk sac, but then development just stops. It helps knowing there was never a heart beat, but definitely doesn't take away the sting of a miscarriage. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thank you for your story. It helps to feel like I am not alone.

Make sure they do a full RPL panel on you. A lot of times doctors don't want to do them until after a third loss but it sounds like your doctor is a bit more sympathetic. I got my work up after my second loss and nothing conclusive came of it. I went on to have another early loss and then finally in my fourth pregnancy I continued to take baby aspirin after getting my BFP and that was my first pregnancy to stick beyond six weeks. I did lose her as well, but that was at 15 weeks due to incompetent cervix and not related to what caused those three early losses. Baby aspirin is somewhat of a "cure all" for so many causes of repeat miscarriage and I've had three OBs tell me taking baby aspirin can't hurt and can only help. I would talk about it with your OB. *hugs*

There is hope after 2 miscarriages. I had 2 in the same year February 2006 and October 2006. I had my second son January 2008 and now have a 3rd child. I still had fears of loss with both of my pregnancies after the losses but I had 2 more beautiful healthy children and both of those pregnancies were normal.

Might I add that I got pregnant 5 weeks (accidentally) after my miscarriage and that is the one that strived!

If they were both blighted ovums I would ask for an AMH test as well because BOs are usually because of an egg issue. If you are young it's more likely to be just a very unlucky coincidence.

Thank you. Do you start taking it while you are trying or after you get pregnant? I think we are probably going to wait about 2 or 3 months to try again.

I conceive via embryo transfer and my RE has me start BA a month before. Start taking prenatals now.

I am still on prenatals and I think I will just continue to take them. Thank you so much for your advice!
