VBAC

posted 5th Jan
I had a c/s in April because DD was footling breech. I just found out I'm pregnant and I think I'm due around Aug. 30 (not sure because I haven't had a period since June 2011). I really don't want another section. I hated it so much. But I'll be having baby 2 about 18 months after DD. I looked online and saw plently of women saying they had VBAC at 13 months but I was wondering if any of you have had VBAC with babies that are close in age and if so how'd it go?

You have to make sure your hospital and OB will allow a VBAC. I wanted one for DD but my hospital didn't allow it for insurance reasons

I just had one in December and it was awesome! But my LO's are 3 years apart. I think 18 months is plenty of time!! Even 12 months probably. Why did you have a c/s? Were you progressing??

DD was footling breech. She was bound and determined not to come out, because of her position they couldn't even try to turn her with out breaking her legs.

Gotcha. Well if you were progressing normally and you had no other complications and you healed fine after, then I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to. I suggest joining the iCAN chapter for your area and finding a VBAC friendly doctor and hospital or a midwife. A doula would be helpful too. I didn't have a doula but I know they can be helpful. Stand up for yourself and what you want to avoid any surgical interventions when it's not absolutely necessary. You got this!

my cousin had to have an emergency c-sec 7 years ago and had a hard time finding a doctor willing to allow a VBAC with her newest daughter, and this is 6 years later. Best of luck you just have to find a doctor willing to do it

I hope I can find a good doc. I really don't want to go through that again.

Emergency sections are usually a different cut than a planned. While mine wasn't totally planned we did know about it a day before I had to go in. With an emergency a vertical cut is more likely and generally a section isn't allowed if you've had a vertical cut. Mine is the bikini cut, which is stronger and less likely to rupture. I just don't know if the time frame is safe.

This is partially true
if you have your old records see how they did the incisions underneath...if you have a verticle then yea no vbac but if its a bikini found out how you were cut under that if its correct you can do a vbac the top cut you can see is important yes but what will be the determining factor is how your actual uteris and muscles were sliced to prevent a chance of rupture

Pretty sure my doctor never looked into all that...but who knows, since your section was only 18 mos ago they might do all that
