How often does your lo nurse
posted 5th Jan
Lo is 2 weeks old and nurses every two hours for ten to fifteen minutes. That's all he will do anymore than that he pukes all over the place like its to much. His doctor said to make him eat 10 to 15 on each breast but he just doesn't. Is this normal

2 weeks is a growth spurt. Just let him nurse whenever he wants for however long he wants.

Every woman's let down is different. So he may be getting more milk than you think. The beautiful thing about breast feeding is that lo can regulate intake and not over eat like the formula babies.

You can't make a baby eat if they don't want to eat. I always stressed myself out by watching the clock in the beginning. Eventually, I just came to terms that my baby only wanted to eat for 9 minutes per feeding (and that was on a hungry day) As long as LO's diaper count is good, and he/she is gaining weight, it's fine. Relax, and enjoy your newborn

I always let my LO pick when she wanted to eat, and for how long.

My daughter is 4 months old and has never nursed for more than ten minutes at a time. I just feed when she's hungry for as long as she likes

Mine only does 10-15 minutes...I just alternate sides every feeding. I took her to the pediatrician for a weight check and she had gained 14 oz in just a week...so I guess she's getting enough!

My LO is 7 1/2 weeks but when he was 2 weeks he did the same, still does. I am lucky if I get him to nurse longer then 10 mins. He is gaining tons of weight and a lot of wet diapers. I think some babies are just more efficient nursers lol
