tattoo & breastfeeding

Has anyone gotten a tattoo whild they were still nursing? my daughter is 8 months old & still nurses, its my 20th birthday Sunday & my sister wants to get me a tattoo so I was just wondering if it was okay & if anyone did it personally.. I dont want to mess my nursing up at all!

I wouldn't. You risk an infection that you can spread to your daughter.

i'm pretty sure i got one when i was nursing.... but she was much older.... only nursing at night at that point.....

I got a back tat while breastfeeding. As long as you get it professionally and you take care of it, you should be fine.

If you go to a good tattoo shop and you take great care of the tattoo while breastfeeding then is fine.

Yeah it will be my 4th tattoo, I am going to the same guy who did my last two he is professional & in a shop with clean everything! I never had issues with any of my other tattoos being infected or anything..

As long as you don't do what my cousin did and go to someone's house to get her first tattoo while breastfeeding and you go to a reputable place and it isn't your first you should be fine. There is a higher risk of infection which in turn can pass into your breastmilk.
