Is there anything I can do?

Well I have to have a MRI tomorrow, and I just google image searched what the MRI set up is like for a MRI on the brain & I freak out over anything going over my face...like freak the hell out. I am panicking just thinking about it. Is there anything I can do about that? I mean I HAVE to get this MRI but I am just afraid I will be such a damn wreck during it with that thing over my face. Could my doctor prescribe me something for one time only? Idk wtf to do.

Are they doing a closed one? I haven't had one of those but had an open one. I hope things go by fast.

Well the thing is, closed ones don't bother me, it is the fact of what they have to put over my head...I am pretty sure they have to still put the thing on my head even during a open MRI.

That head this is what freaks me the smurf out. I can be in a small space as long as nothing is covering my face.

I haven't had on on my head, but I had one on my legs and I was enclosed in the thing for about 45 minutes. I'm a little claustrophobic but I actually really enjoyed it. It kind of vibrated and was a little loud (like the sound of a centrifuge, if you've ever been around one). I found it relaxing lol. I fell asleep.

I would say probably not...

It can cause poor suckling, sedation, and lethargy. The ratio of milk to plasma from Valium is as high as 2.8. Half life of Valium is 43 hours.

However I found one that may be better. It is called Triazolam. It's half life is 1.5-5.5 hours.

It's worth it to ask

ok i get pretty bad anxiety ...i think i took a little xanax when i got mine. i had to do a neck and head one the same day i was in there for 45 minutes but to be honest, it is not as bad as you think it is going to be, i swear.

Ahh ok I will check and see with the doctor.

I didn't have anything like that on my head but then I don't know if it was because they needed pictures of my brain and that gets in the way. They had something to keep my head still but it didnt look like that.

I am pretty sure that helps get the image of the brain. I am having a brain MRI tomorrow & I have had one in the past & I am pretty sure I remember them putting some smurf like that on my head for the brain MRI I had before.

I definitely didn't have one on my head. I got to watch a movie (which I couldn't hear cuz of the jack hammer noises!) during the entire thing too.

It was a lot like this but the back was different because they could use a remote to rotate the chair to get different angles.
