Nursing/Working moms

I have a question for the moms who work & pump.. how much milk do you have stored in the freezer? I just noticed I'm running a little low, I usually have two of the sides filled on the freezer & I have bout 1 & 1/2 now.. its probably about 22-24 ounces.. Is that an okay amount? I work 4 days a week & I pump 2x a day at work & I usually only get 2-4 ounces total each time & she eats pretty much that same amount if not an ounce or two more but I had stopped pumping on my off days. Do I need to start pumping more outside of work? I just would hate to run out of milk & Im freaked out!

Breastmilk doesn't increase in volume with time, it increases in density - so fat & calories increase. Because of that, babies average out to needing about 1-1.25 oz per hour you are away. No - she actually won't start to eat more, like I already posted. Babies are often fed more breastmilk (when getting bottle fed)as they get older, but they don't need more breastmilk. Formula doesn't change over time, so in order to give baby more fat, calories & nutrition, you give more ounces. Breasts peak on production usually by week 4 ish - so from there on out they make about 19-30 oz per baby & average is around 25 oz per day. Thank goodness to as who wants the milk production to increase in volume until your boobs drag on the ground? ;) That doesn't generally change much at all from that until after they are a year & may cut back quite a bit - but certainly it stabilizes through 6 months.
