self induction
posted 4th Jan
So I am completely against self induction. Even if the woman is 40 weeks. But I know people who say after a certain time (like 38 weeks or so) they are all for it. What are your opinions? Are you against it completely? Do you think its OK after the woman is so far along? If so how far along?

I'm against it. It's an estimated due date.

That's how I feel about it. A due date isn't exact. Its a guesstimation.

Nope. Just nope.
Due dates are estimations, not exact.
The baby will come when baby is ready. I went 41 weeks with Heathen. Was miserable, and complained I wanted her out at 36 weeks, but never thought of trying to induce myself.

100% against.

For medical reasons, it's a different story.
But I am against self induction or early induction. It's invasive. The OB here in my town will induce girls the day of their DD.

I plan on being induced at 38 weeks with any future children, since my last pregnancy ended in a full-term stillbirth. But unless there are any past or current medical issues, I'm not really "for" induction.

for me, i'd rather let baby come when she's ready, not when i'm ready.
Just thinking about how bad i'd feel if she came out with underdeveloped lungs or low birth weight that coulda been avoided by letting her stay in there longer. I'm super paranoid though lol

I think it's weird that woman want to be induced or try to induce themselves early. Like, didn't they know that pregnancy is 40+ weeks? I truly don't understand what is SO hard about sucking it up for another week or two, it's gonna get better and you'll have a better chance at a healthy baby? Is annoying pains and aches THAT terrible that you'd risk that? Weird. Wouldn't jump down someone's throat for it or say they're a smurffy person, but personally, I think it's odd.
Are there ways to truly self induce, anyway?

I feel the same way. I don't get why you would want to risk it. That's your baby.
And I'm not sure. I've heard castor oil works but idk.

If the baby isn't ready it's not going to work anyway.
Unless the person is a phyco and does something like "coat hanger up the vagina!"
I let my DR induce me on my due date and DS was big and healthy, he also pooped in the womb. If I had went over he could have ended up really sick.

What do you mean by self inducing? Purposely having sex or getting a massage towards your due date or after in the hopes of inducing labor?
quoteposted 4th Jan
I'm trying everything to avoid MEDICAL induction... so at the moment, I'm 100% FOR self induction. Must be nice to not have a time limit. I'd rather be 45 weeks pregnant than be forced into labor by chemicals.

What do you mean by self inducing? I have no issues with women having more sex, doing more walking, bouncing on balls, ect (no castor oil).
