re: self induction

I should be more specific with my answer, walking, having sex, etc is fine imo. Castor oil and cra p! No!

I really don't care. If woman is stupid enough to chug castor oil at 35 weeks, 38 weeks, what the smurf ever weeks then so be it.

I had my membranes stripped at 38 and 5 days, I gave birth the next day.

While I"m pro-choice, I don't see it as a good idea and I'm pretty much against it. Why? It can harm both the mother and the fetus. It's not really worth it. Just let the little one come when they want to. Unless you need an induction for medical reasons, get it then with a doctor , not some castor oil or something that you don't exactly know how it'll effect you or your baby.

Yeah, I'm definitely against it when there's no medical reason for it. I went 42 weeks and got induced because my doctor was worried about my placenta holding up for much longer. It was my first child too, so I was inclined to just listen to whatever he told me. I waited for as long as I and my doctor thought I could. I don't necessarily regret it, but I do wish that my body would have gone into labor on it's own. When I got checked on the day of my induction I was only 1cm dilated and 0% effaced and there was no signs of my body going into labor, so who knows how long it would have been.

Didn't mean to write a novel there haha. But yeah, in short, I'm against people trying to self induce for selfish reasons. Medical reasons are a whole different story and induction should always be done by a doctor.

I was wondering that too. When I think self-inducing I automatically think castor oil, which I would be against. But when I was nearing the end of my pregnancy I was doing everything to try and get my body ready. Sex, different kinds of stretches, walking. Then again I wouldn't really consider that "self-induction", I would think of it more as trying to prepare your body for when labor does come.

Any natural self induction won't work unless baby is ready, so have at it.

I'm all for it if you know what you're doing. I push myself into early labor so that when I go into active or transitional, I have an easier time.

Those are the things that I would call self-induction. I've tried everything BUT castor oil (never... yikes), but ultimately, if your body isn't ready, nothing is going to work. I'm all for trying SAFE methods of preparing your body/jumpstarting if your body is ready, but medical induction... ELECTIVE medical induction is pretty dumb, IMO.

38 is the new 40!




Idk. I really am very against any before 38 weeks. But its their life or their childs they put at risk. I won't be trying to induce.
