2year old broke her leg.

im so upset, my 2yo fell on new years eve on the ice on our driveway broke her little leg.
her tibia to be exact, its not a horrible break though, but she is in a whole leg cast!!!

meaning she cannot move her knee ankle or anything.

shes army crawling around and shes being such a trooper about it but im heartbroken

ive never had a broken bone so i have no idea how to handle this whole cast situation!!

how do i bathe her?!
do i take her around other kids or not?

i want her to play and have fun with her cousins but i dont want her getting upset when she sees them running and stuff!


any advice/help is much needed!!

I've broken my arm 4 times and dislocated my ankle once and needed a cast. You take a black trash bag before you put her in the bath and and tape that sucker up so as little water as possible gets in. You also try your hardest to keep that leg out of the tub (prop it up on something). The worst that will happen is that it will get wet and she will need another one because it will start to smell pretty raunchy.

Take her around friends/other children. She will still be able to play. Just be happy that it's not summer and she doesn't have to go swimming. That was always the worst!

Dont get the cast wet. I used to wrap mine in plastic wrap. Otherwise business as close to usual as it can be. I broke my leg then my arm 2 months after the leg cast came off.

When I was 8 I got hit by a car and broke my tibia and fibula. To bathe her put a grocery bag or trash bag around her leg and tie it. I think its fine to take her around other kids. Just keep an eye on her to be sure they don't get too rowdy. :-)

In our neighborhood growing up, there was just me, my sister, and a bunch of boys. I loved jumping my bike and climbing trees. The dislocated ankle was Marine Corps training. I fell off a balance log during the last leg of training (the Crucible) and ended up with a medical discharge.

I went to get stitches and casts so much as a child that my parents and I were questioned by DCFS.
