Speech Pathologist

posted 4th Jan
My son has to see one. His doctor and the audiologist are worried about his speech development and thought it is best if we have one come to our house to evaluate him and see what to do from there. LO is only 21 months. He understands what we're saying, most of the time. Like if we tell him to get the ball, he'll go over a get it. He'll say thank you, not very clear but you can still tell it's thank you, when you give him something, he gives you something or if he sneezes and you say bless you. He calls everything a "boppy." He's trying to say puppy. Idk if he's really that far behind but I guess it won't hurt to have him evaluated.

What exactly do they do to evaluate them? Would it help if he's seen regularly by a speech pathologist?

Our oldest had a speech pathologist for a few months it seemed to help he's only slightly below "normal" now. They came and played with him for an eval asked him questions and asked me a TON of questions about his development. They came to our house also. He loved speech therapy.

Sound like my son he is 2 1/2 and still way behide won't talk in less I ask him to say a word and he try's but still won't say it or say it clear at all. He does sound affects and the speech therapist that sees him once a week works with him and he does sign a few words.

Best to start sooner then later and.

My son understands everything and says yes and no . So I mostly has him yes and no questions and that how we communicate

My daughter is 20 months a just evaluated for early intervention today. They will let him play with a wide variety of toys to check his motor skills and see how he reacts, with words and sounds to everything they tell him to play with And all. They will put like two things infront of him and ask him to get the duck or something. A bunch of different little tests. If his fast and very easy process to get through

Look at how she moves her mouth if she moves her lips tongue if not get a mirror and play with her making faces moving hr tongue up in down it helps. Also do a hour of play time with some toys but don't let her play into she try's to say a word, like if you had her a toy first have her say mine or I want or more like things and go from there and also animal sounds and such.
