I have taught kids with FAS. Some had clear markings like eyes, others look perfectly normal. They all have had delvelopmental delays in motor skills and reading comprehension. My students with severe FAS are generally 3-5 years behind grade level.

I have taught them as well and agree with this.
Sort of flat above the lips too.
One had it severely, he was very behind academically and had severe behavioural issues. It was very sad. I wonder what became of him.

Yea she's only 2 so not at that grade stage yet.
I think she has funny eyes and a funny eye placement. Ir it might just e a funny shaped head.. She's not saying much either maybe 10-15 words and most of the time just makes noises when she gets frustrated when you can't understand her. But that might just be a speech delay.
Would they check for FAS at birth, do you know? Like obvious signs.

If she is showing major signs her pedi would most certainly know by now. Often they won't show signs until school so 4-6.

Is she your child?

The most notable physical thing to me was a flatness above the mouth, like no ridge at all.
The one who i taught who had it severely was speech delayed, had aggressive outbursts, could not read at all at age 7, would run away from school.
He had many really sweet aspects and I wonder if his home life contributed to the behaviour.
His mother was clearly an alcoholic, she arrived drunk at the school.
I don't know if they test

I'm feeling uncomfortable answering this stuff as I'm not sure what OP's relationship with this child is. And why she wants to know.

We don't see pedis, only well child nurses. But we've been to the drs a few times for illness and such and my GP has never said anything... Neither has my well child nurse but she hasn't seen her for a good 6months.

I was just playing with her and noticed the corner of her eyes and remembered what I read awhile ago about the corners being curved..
I should probably see my dr specifically for this so I know for sure.

Is it your baby?
I think you would need to have been drinking quite a lot, I think around the 2nd trimester.
Is the bit above her mouth flat?

Yea she's mine. Guess the behavioural thing won't come out until later.
I'm far from an alcohol lol. But I did have a big night out before I knew I was pregnant. I'm going to feel so smurffy if she does have it

see how its flat above the lip? This was very flat in the children I taught with FAS.
There behaviour was not just 'delayed' they had problems socialising and choosing appropriate behaviors/

Oh honey! She won't have it from that!!!!
Do you know how many women have big nights out before they know? HEAPS including myself. You would have had to be drinking from 7 plus weeks according to the web.
And to have the result I gave, you would be drinking often, not one big night before you knew.

YES! I got blind drunk before i knew with the first! He's perfect.
It happens around the time that the bits at the front above the mouth join in utero, if you are drinking in that period- late 1st trimester it will appear flat.
was it like a one off at like 4 weeks?
