Being induced
posted 4th Jan
Im due Jan 6, and today at my appointment my Dr told me that she wants to bring me in the night of Jan 8 to have me induced Jan 9. I'll be 40 wks 3 days. I'm okay with the idea of being induced, with my only worry being that I'll end up needing a c section due to not dialating enough or fetal distress. I've gained about 50 lbs (I think theyre beginning to get worried about his size, at 38 weeks he was estimated at 7 lbs 8ozs via ultrasound and I understand that is just an estimate and could be off,) I'm not dialted or thinned out or anything and he is still really high up. I was just wondering if anyone else whos been induced (perhaps in a similar situation as me) can share the positives and negatives of their induction. Ty!

Good luck!
Personally, I'd give my body a bit more time to progress on it's own prior to an induction!

Best of luck. Personally I would wait a bit longer on the induction (41-42 weeks)

I was induced with my son and he was still high and I had only measuring one cm. It was alot harder then normal labor, but I survived and he is now 6. Good Luck

I was induced at 39 weeks due to pre-e. I was only 1cm when I went in. They gave me two doses of cervadil (sp?) then started the pitocin 8 hours after that. Broke my water four hours after that. Pitocin sucks, bad. But nothing that you won't live through. I had her 12 hours after they broke my water. C-section was never even brought up. If you dont want to be induced ask your OB for another week to see if you can go on your own. Best of luck, Mama.

Wait longer. I was induced at 40w2days and ended in c section. I was completely closed up when I started

The chances of a c-section are 50% more likely when you get induced. Just wait if there's no medical reason for it. It's not like they can force you to get induced.

Thanks everyone for the input. It seems like I am coming down with a cold so maybe the induction will be put off for that. I'm going to think about it and make my decision monday as to whether or not I'm going to keep the date or request it get pushed back another week.

Best of luck to you and the lil one

I think all is luck but is also true you have a large chance of eding up in a csection. I'am 38 wks pregnant of my #3 baby. With my first I was induced at 40 wks it was great only 8 hrs and I had her. My #2 at 41 wks easy too 6hrs of labor only. And I guess this time I might end induced to weird i wish it was all natural
