re: under weight baby?

Those doctors are stupid as hell. DS was exactly 14lbs at 4 months (he was 7lbs 14oz at birth) and is now just over 15lbs (8months). Its on the small side but absolutely nothing to worry about. Doctor wasnt concerned a bit, just said kids get more active at that age and its not unusual for them to be on the lower side of the weight chart as long as he didnt start losing a bunch of weight. I would be getting a new doctor if they want to accuse you of abusing your child.

Whaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?! Change doctors immediately. My four month old is 14 lbs and they said he's perfect. He has rollie pollie arms and legs too. I can't imagine another six pounds on him at this age!!! You do not have to take that crap. Change doctors.

my 19 month old weighs 18 lbs 4 ozs so if your lo is underweight idk what mine is i say find a new pedi cuz yours has issues babies dont all grow at the same rate as long as your lo is otherwise healthy weight should not be that big of a deal if lo all of a sudden lost weight or was ill then i could see the problem but 14lbs at 5 months is a good size

Quoting Tea Bag McGee:" So my 4 month old is under weight by 6 lbs... even tho he eats 8 oz every 2 hours. so they want to see ... [snip!] ... the pounds on like he should. has anyone ever had this problem with there baby? he was 7lbs and 13oz when he was born. "

Wow I agree with all of the other ladies find a new Dr!! My son was 8lbs 15 oz and at 3 months he was 11lbs 14 oz and he goes in for another weigh in on the 28th for his 4 month check up but they are doing a growth curve check because of his severe reflux and he was 95% at birth and dropped way to fast on the growth charts is the only concern! My daughter slowly dropped down on the charts and they said no cocnern since it was gradual just said that she was just going to be on the small side! Now with one Dr with my daughter said she was under weight since she was only in the 8% at her 1 year check up but once her Dr got back from deployment he said there isn't a concern since she just slowly dropped down on the charts and that she is just meant to be on the smaller side and he then explaned to me the only time to be concerned is if its a rapid drop! I can't beleive she said she was going to turn you in to have you checked out that is crazy!! He sounds like he is doing just fine!

dd was a HUGE baby... 10.7 at birth.. she lost a lot because of jaundice and i wasnt producing enough the first week and at 4 months weighed 14 lbs... they said she was gaining weight fine. shes now almost 6 months and weighs 16.14... she gains a little over a pound a month which im almost positive is what they should be doing. pardon my french but smurf her. Are there other pedi's in the office? i would bring it up to another one that works there. my office has like... 7 lol i have already switched once because i felt rushed by the original pedi. i love our new one.
