Can you get a passport for a child without the other parents permission my bd refuses to sign for it.

In Canada you can't. I'm sure it's the same there.

No....unless he's not on the BC then you MIGHT be able to.

The only reason I could get DS's w/o DH's signature was b/c he was deployed and I had a copy of his orders

Yeah, it's so one parent cannot flee the country in a custody dispute and disappear. It's a shame in certain situations where the BD is just being a jerk though. If the baby has a name on the birth cert. The man must sign for it.

This explains a lot. My BD wanted to get a passport and take my son to Mex but ended up not going but wouldn't tell me why.

You have to either convince him to sign for it, get someone else to adopt the child (if your married so he can relinquish custody, but that doesn't sound likely) or you can't take the child out of the country.

You may have a case in court if you are married and your husband or you have a job offer or are in the military, therefore you have to leave and it would cause great hardship for her to not have her passport.
