If you're pro gun

If you're are pro guns would you teach your kids how to shoot and if so at what age?
Not trying to debate about pro or con on guns.
DH and I are already planing on buying a gun safe and a few guns when we move to TX. Were both military and have been trained on how to use them and were both VERY pro gun. We plan to start DS off with a BB gun when hes younger. and when we feel hes responsible enough we will begin teaching him how to shoot real guns.

SO got a BB gun when he was 5. And plans on getting DD and future children them on their 5th birthday.

Yes, my kids will know how to use a gun properly
As for age- really depends on the child.
I was ready early in life, parents bought me a BB at 7.
My brother is 23 and still not ready

my husband wants to around age 10 and to take our son hunting around that age. But personally if he wants him to be good and trained i'd prefer him to start at like age 9 so he has a good year of practice before they go out in the woods.

My husband plans on getting our daughter a .22 rifle when she turns 6. Of course it will be locked up. She's to only use it when he takes to to the range.

Yes. We started this year (age 4.)
Adrianna has already had one gun safety course from her paw-paw and will continue to have them throughout her life.

DH and I are looking forward to the age where we can take our kids shooting and teach them how..
We haven't set ourselves on an age, though. With our oldest being two, we don' t see it happening any time soon... Maybe if/when they show interest in learning..

I started shooting at the cinder pits when I was 6. I think it's a good age to let them physically shoot, assuming they are mature enough. But I will probably talk about gun safety at an earlier age.

DD started gun safety at four and we take her to the range now. She started on her fifth birthday. She has a healthy knowledge and fear of guns.

Bb gun at age five. plan to teach him as if its LEATHAL gun. ( just a single pump bb gun)
then once we feel hes ready we plan to buy him a nice .22 with his name and what not engraved on it.
It just depends on your child if they are mature enough and can hamdle the responiblity.
Even after i feel hes mature enough he is NOT going to have acess to the rifle without mama or daddy and if henis caught fiddling with the gun safe.. He wont touch his gun again till i believe hes matured more

DH got a BB gun(pellet gun maybe, plastic 6mm balls it shoots) and is starting to teach our older son who is not quite two. DS doesn't really understand anything yet so it is more of a getting used to it than teaching. We have a rifle, shotgun and hand gun. All are kept out or reach. We live in an apartment so we don't exactly have room for a safe but we have locks on the guns. I think once DS can talk more (since he understands so much right now) we are going to start working more with it but I suspect that will be around the time he is 3. For now it is "Don't touch daddy's guns" when DH has them out to clean. And the BB gun he has tried to show DS how to shoot at a pillow but that has happened twice since DS really does not understand.

My two oldest have already shot a shotgun a few times, they are 6 and 4. They had assistance and it was at a turkey shoot. They really liked it and they know about gun safety. We went over rules before they were even allowed around the guns. My 2yo even knows about gun safety and what guns are capable of but she is not ready to try and pull a trigger yet. We are planning on getting our oldest daughter a bb gun soon.

I would start talking about gun safety very early, then later (maybe 10 or 11yrs.old) I would actually take them out to shoot. My son is almost 8 and we are constantly telling him about gun safety and how to treat them with respect and under no circumstances use them as a toy, that way when we actually allow him to shoot, he'll have respect for them already drilled into his head.

Dh hunts so the kids will def learn about guns. I'm not sure at what age. We haven't come to that yet.

Oh wow. Im pleasently surprised. I wasn't sure on an age. I was thinking 14 or 15. but I wasn't sure whats normal. Now that I'm see a lot of 4-5 answers (which is what DH wanted) I'm thinking maybe he's not so crazy after all. What do you do with a child that young? Just show them and talk about saftey or do the actually shoot?
