My lo is feeding poorly

posted 4th Jan
So my son is ebf and he sleeps all day it's so hard to wake him up and he literally only eats for like 5 minutes maybe 12 and is passed out again and impossible to wake up. Do you think it's okay, should I just let it go?

He's 2 weeks old. Every 2 hours if I wake him except at night he will wake me if he's hungry but he doesn't get up in the day. He just started doing this yesterday. He's 10 pounds 14 oz and was born 9 pounds 8 oz so he's eating correctly the past few days just scare me

Has it just been recently? It's probably just a growth spurt. Growing is tough work! Hell eat when he's hungry

Big boy  My boys are the same way. He may just be a very efficient nurser. My baby is, at most he will nurse for 10 minutes unless he is falling asleep. Babies sleep A LOT because they grow so fast. So don't worry about it as long as he is gaining weight and otherwise seems okay.

Colton did that for a few days & went back to eating every two hours for 10-15 sometimes 20 minutes. Now he is up for a few hours, wanting to eat every hour in the morning. Sleeps for an hour wakes up, eats, stays awake for a couple of hours, eats, still stays awake, eats, falls asleep, lol. That's been going on for the passed few days. I guess he is going through a growth spert?

ETA: He is also EBF.

DD does that a lot too. But she's been gaining weight quickly and definitely peeing & pooping enough, so I try not to worry about it. When she's awake she cluster feeds, sometimes for 5 minutes at a time.

I also find she keeps pulling away and I have to continually re-latch her...I think that my milk is just coming out fast because she also chokes pretty often

My little girl is almost 9 months old now and she has been like this from the time she was a little over a week old. In the nicu she would nurse for an hr or so but then once we got home she would only nurse 15 minutes tops and most of the time it is less than 10 minutes but she was born at 8lbs 8oz and is now 25 so she is eating well lol some babies are just very effecient nursers and that is ok
