Yesterday's Check Up

I had been to my doctor once, at 18 weeks. Hadn't been since until yesterday, which was basically 33 weeks.

I didn't even see the doctor at all. I had a lot of concerns and questions to bring up with her but that wasn't happening apparently. And one of the tech's kind of left me worried saying there was some "funkiness" going on with my urine testing, that it "was showing everything." But didn't exactly explain that and my lab tech had no idea on anything. She hadn't even been sure I'd done the urine sample let alone anything being up with it.

I was relieved to finally get to head out there as I'd been having some severe pain in my right side and the baby's movements had decreased over the past week... among several other smaller issues. But didn't seem to much good. I got called in quickly this time, saw up, told of a few issues to the tech lady I saw first, had my weight and blood pressure taken, got to hear the heartbeat then she was gone. Another tech came in and said he was positioned high right now so that was probably causing a few of the issues and then asked me about my Medicaid for a minute before leaving.

Soon after that the lab lady came in, told me I'd be doing the 1 hour glucose test today. She joked around with me, gave me the gunk, explained everything on that. So I plugged my nose and downed it and she stayed with me several minutes making sure I was alright. She said I'd wait in there to see the doctor then any rest of the time I'd be out in the waiting room and she'd come get me when my alarm went off.

It was a few minutes before the second tech came back, asked me if I'd seen the lab woman, looked over my chart again and said I needed x, y and z and then took me out of the room to the lab where the lady rolled her eyes and said she must not have understood her so apologized and sent me out to the waiting room.

It was about 10-15 minutes after I'd drank the gunk before it really hit me. And did in one huge wave. I still have no idea how I made it through. I was sick and faint, seeing spots, disoriented for a small bit of time. I fell down when I got up when she came to get me. Not so pleasant. I was actually sick the whole rest of the night.

I gave some confirmation on info to her when I got called back, joked around some more, she instructed me on what to eat and not to eat and all, drew some blood and then that was it. I asked her about what the one woman said on my odd urine situation but she didn't have a clue on it. And said it seemed I wouldn't see the doctor after all and just go up to the front and make my 2 week appointment up there and then go grab some food and drink tons of water.

So... I was rather bummed on not seeing the doctor. And now worried on even more than when I went in. Gah.

I didn't read all that but why are you not being seen once a month? I would switch doctors for sure

I hadn't been seen in several months. My trouble getting out there, not her doing. I had the one check up yesterday and scheduled for another in 2 weeks. Which I am hoping goes better.

Wow. I would find a closer doctor or something. You have a whole month to find a ride...

I went to one other appointment, that was back in September. Then yesterday was my second time seeing anyone. And hopefully I can stay on schedule now and actually make it out there as I'm supposed to..

Just was worried about what they said about my testing and also not seeing the doctor. Had a lot go on and it'd been awhile so was hoping would get a lot of things talked about with her and such,

Well there is one other place that's about half the time away but they have no idea what they're doing. I couldn't ever even get set up with them and I just gave up. I don't like anything about that hospital or their doctor's and did not have any trust in them. So I went to the next closest town heh.

Ah, well I now have Medicaid so I now have coverage and am able to use their transport. So I'm good to go on that now.
