Geting ready for labor?

posted 4th Jan
Ok do I'm 34 weeks and feel like I should be preparing for labor. I have a doula, do my squats and lunges, and also listen to my hynobabies tracks at night.

What else should I be doing?
Perrineal massage, red raspberry tea?? This is a VBAC as my twins were a scheduled c-section before I even felt a braxton hicks.

Any tips for me ladies? I'm super excited but also a bit nervous.

I didn't do much to prepare, other than walking and evening primrose oil. And having lots of sex. I think all the sex I had might have been the reason LO was a few days early, but then again maybe not.

Sex is not on my mind lol. I huge, like almost as big as I was with my twins and finding a comfortable postion is hell. Plus baby is on my lungs so I run out of breath fast, but I should be walking more.

I wouldn't start the tea, yet. Maybe start taking some epo.

its kinda earlyish but walking wont hurt you and if you go overdue itll help
start making freezer meals mabe for your family since you have more time to prep this go around definatly trust your instincts tho I may think its early but if its in your mind this is what you should be doing who am I to tell your body otherwise....Also mabe go over diffrent scenarios of your birth plan in case plan b fails too or your hospital etc. make sure you have things planned for your kids I always think its cute depending on your plan to kind of make them thier own hospital bag if you are going without them and let them have a job to do when they get there or for when you come home to help you and that takes time to help prepare them to do and this is the perfect time to do it so they are ready adn wont forget

I walked A TON, practiced imagery with breathing, drank 2-4 cups of red raspberry leaf tea every day (although I don't think it helped me at all- I still had a 35 hour labor). I started EPO at 35 weeks. I think that did help, as I was fully effaced when I went into labor.

I was told not to take it before 36 weeks. I didn't look into it any further because I don't do tea...but after a quick google I see after 32 weeks it's thought to be ok.

I did it when in early labor as its proven to strengthen contactions not cause them but thats up to you ...I feel like it really helped me but you have to drink ALOT of it like pretty much all the time then double your water cause tea can dehydrate you lol

Question on the tea..... I'm not a tea drinker, this is something id like to suggest to my friend, due on the 9th. Is there a certain kind of red raspberry leaf tea that u should use? Like do u look for exactly that or can u also use red raspberry leaf flavored tea? If that makes sense. Like I said I'm not a tea drinker. Should've seen me trying to find the kind my hubby wanted...

It's not meant to induce labor, just strengthen the muscles of your uterus to make your contractions more productive. It can also potentially reduce the risk of pre-term labor, pre-e, etc. You could safely drink it way before 32 or 36 weeks. I started at 27 weeks, and will start drinking it right after the first trimester with all future pregnancies. I don't think it worked too well for me (as far as uterine strength), but I'll still give it a go next time.

I would talk to your Midwife/OB, but usually it's safe to start taking the pills at the minimum dosage orally at 35 weeks, then up the dosage orally at 36 and 37 weeks. Start inserting vaginally at minimum dosage at 38 weeks, and up the dosage at 39 and 40 weeks, etc.
