PP bleeding or period??

I was wondering how to tell the difference between normal PP bleeding & PP periods?? I'm 4 weeks PP tomorrow & my bleeding had stopped for about a week. It was very light, brown & basically spotting. Light enough to wear panty liners. Anyways the other night before bed I used the washroom & discovered I'm bleeding again, very heavily with clotting. It's almost as if I started back at square one after DD's birth. The only differences are I have mild cramping (normal periods have very bad cramping) & it doesn't have the PP blood scent (it smelled kind of rotten after I had DD). Is this normal PP bleeding? Period? Should I be worried? :/

sounds normal. You are likely loosing the placenta "scab". often times a few weeks after birth one will randomly start bleeding haevily again because the sight the placenta was attached to formed a scab initially and like any scab it falls off evantually appearing like clots and some bleeding. it is usually short lived, and doesn't happen in every pregnancy ( i never had it with either)

Gross lol! I don't think this happened with my first either :/ it's very disappointing though, I thought I was in the clear lol
