Stripping Membranes

posted 4th Jan
I am almost 37 weeks and i am very curious about getting my membranes stripped at 38 weeks. I am in a LOT of pain in my hips and can barely roll out of bed sometimes and just want to have this baby asap. I dont really want to be induced because i have heard that it takes a long time and makes labor more difficult. All im looking for is personal experience, how long it takes to go into labor after them being stripped, pros and cons....etc. Thank you!

I got mine stripped at 38 weeks and a few days. I didn't go into labor until 40 weeks 4 days. 4 days overdue. So it did nothing for me.

I got mine stripped with both of my sons. My first son I had it done twice. That was after I was on meds for much of my pregnancy to stop my contractions. It didn't make a difference. It didn't help with my youngest either. I'll probably still get it done next time though lol.

It caused me a lot of cramping the first time (38 weeks), but nothing ever came of it. The second time, I was 4cm dilated and very soft and.thin (39 weeks) and that was on Thursday. Still pregnant, but I have had a bloody show avout 20 hours ago, so we'll see. Good luck to you   avoiding being induced is really important to me too, so I know how you feel!
