This is my first pregnancy and lets just say it hasn't been an easy one but my doctor thinks he slipped a disk in my back not to long ago and ive bearly been able to walk or do even the most simple things and at my appointment before my last one his heart rate was high and she told me if at my next appointment it was still high she was sending me straight to the hospital luckily it went down my next appointment but she still wanted to induce me early so we set it up for Monday but now I have all this time to think about it and im scared and nervous because ive heard being induced hurts worse then going into labor on your own I know theirs not really any advice anyone can give me but maybe tell me your story of labor I know most of them are horror stories ive been getting told since I first found out I was pregnant but now its almost time and I guess I just want to know a little more of what to expect I know im going to be tired because I have to leave a 4:30 in the morning to make it to the hospital by 6 and I don't sleep because of the pain hints on why im still up this late but on how everything actually happens I really don't know I know its painful and one of the most joyous days of your life but that's about it

Holy run on. I wish you the best of luck. I was induced it wasnt to bad, but natural labor would have been easier. I was on pit for almost 24 hours and labored for 36. It was long try and eat a good meal prior itll help cause they wont feed you there.

Don't let people scare you. My induction actually went really well. I went in at 6 pm Thursday. I got hooked up to pitocin. At 10 am Friday I was having a lot of contractions but not dilating. So I had a foley bulb placed in my cervix. It fell out around 1. I caved and got an epidural at 5 pm. I started pushing at 8pm. She was born three hours later. I got one stitch. It was a good experience for me and I wouldn't change it. It's the way she needed to come. Good luck! I hope you have a smooth and easy labor and delivery!

Oh and I forgot! I had my doctor give me permission to drink water in labor and eat a Popsicle. I threw up when I hit transition. But I still recommend the water cause inductions usually take a long time and I love my water! I had water after every contraction while pushing.

First of you are going to get a million different stories told to you. You must remember every single one of us women are different! However, not ALL inductions have been horror stories. Ill give you mine for hope because it went very well and if I had to be induced again I would do it with no hesitation! Don't get me wrong, I was scared and nervous! But you have to trust the doctors and nurses are going to take care of both you and baby best they can! I went in at 7 in the morning and they started the cervidil..I laid there for 2 hours to let it kind of soak in..I had teeny tiny like mini cramping contractions, so at 2 hours they had me walk the hall for 40 minutes! I began feeling them a tad bit stronger but nothing to make me yell! At 4 hours my dr came in and checked me I was only dilated to a 2 and she broke my water! Now after that is when the BIG contractions started! I was the biggest baby for about 3 hours and begged for my epidural! So they came in and gave it to me. Most women say being induced hurts way worse because of the pitocin, but in my story. I didn't get the pitocin until after my epidural so I was smilin through that!! although I had a long labor (18 hours) most of it was quite relaxing after the beginning part of it. I was able to rest and began pushing at 1 in the morning. Pushed for 2 hours and out she came at 3:06am! One exhausted mama! I wish you the best of luck. And please try to have an open mind, your story will be different as we'll but hopefully you can try not to focus on all the bad induction stories and know that an easy induction is possible and DOES happen out there! Good luck mama!!!

I am sure you will be scared and nervous either way, but remember your doing it for your child and after its done you will be able to hold your baby in your arms.

Permission to drink water and eat a Popsicle? Smurf. I was encouraged to eat while in labour to keep up my energy and strength so I could endure and power through it.

Lucky! I moved three times during pregnancy 2 of the doctors had strict no eating or drinking policies even for natural labors that started at home. It was the first thing I told the 3rd doctor about. I was not going to not be allowed water during labor. He wrote it in bold in my notes because it was such a big deal to me. I had GD and cried if I went longer than about 15 minutes without water. The 3rd doctor gave in to all of my demands about the induction. Including that they were not to give me cytotec even though it was their drug of choice.
