This hurt.

Im not sure where to put this so I guess Ill put it in here.
Tonight while watching tv with DH I started to get hungry, Im guessing it was out of boredom, because I had already eaten dinner, which quite frankly I had too much of. The whole time in my mind I was battling with myself to not get up and get myself something, and without recognizing it at first, I started figiting, and like playing with my hands and tapping my fingers, anything to not eat. Which made me realize, and actually start to cry a bit, that it seems like I am addicted to say, cigs, or alcohol or something... not to make light of those things, because I have never gone thru them, but it just hit my like a brick to my face. Food should not have this much power over me. I had been good after getting serious about losing weight in Aug, after our life calmed down a bit. Bought healthier things, didnt eat as much or when I was bored, didnt eat after dinner. Then once Thanksgiving got here it completely went down hill, not just down hill, but down hill right off the cliff at the end. It hurts me to think that food has this much power over me, although I havent given in and plan on going to bed soon. I sorta think this is what I need to for real get serious, but if it's this hard now, I know its going to be really hard coming up.

try to retrain your thinking.

I just started doing this again...but I lost 40 lbs a couple years ago (15 have crept back on)

everytime I wanted to lounge, or eat junk (not legitimate hunger/mealtimes) I'd get up an exercise. If I had no time for it (like at work) it was a simple 10 jumping jacks. Or, if at home... if I had time, I'd do yoga, or the elliptical. Even if just 5 minutes. they add up. ..and as you build stamina...it gets longer. Even if not.... 5 minutes multiple times a day is better than eating junk.

You know, I used to do this but completely forgot about it, and it would work because I could still watch whatever with DH while doing them.

Thank you very much. =]

you're welcome. Trick is not to feel guilty about short bursts of working out. it's SOMETHING. and..it's replacing eating..

I often try to work out... and then stop because I get busy,,and can't fit in 30-60 minutes 3-5 times a week. but... when I start working out..even if it's just 5 minutes multiple times a day...I feel better...it makes me want to work out more. And..it helps me make good food choices when I do eat

The other thing you might consider is having healthy options on hand & ready to go so you can eat at times like that. If I actually want food, I eat. I just eat good stuff, like radishes & carrots & what not all chopped up with a bit of balsamic vinaigrette on it. We don't have junk in the house anyway...so unless I want to go into the kitchen & start chugging olive oil, there really isn't anything I need to avoid.

One thing im trying is to count to 100 and take a small sip of water in between each number. Its distracting, rather filling and calorie free

Thanks ladies for your advice. =]

We used to not have junk around, until the holidays when we had family over and they brought stuff, so hopefully it will all be gone soon.
