Breach

posted 4th Jan
So I am 31 weeks and pretty sure my baby is still breach. My midwife appointment is on Tuesday and I am just wondering how long they leave baby breach before they start talking about a section? I really don't want one, I just want to know as I never had this with my DS.

Some babies don't turn until active labor. So they probably won't talk about it.

ETA:
Ask your midwife about exercises and things you can do to encourage baby. I know rocking back and forth on your hands and knees helps.

Baby can flip during labor. My doctor was talking about a c-section at 36 weeks but we knew DD would not flip on her own, so I had a version done to avoid it at 37 weeks.

Babies can flip at the last minute. Midwives aren't usually quick to jump the c section train so I really wouldn't worry about them pushing. Ask her if there are some things she can do or you can do to help baby flip.

Also check out spinning babies.com they have tips to help.

I have heard that them turning the baby is really painful and if a baby is breach and you go into labour and don't know if they have turned or not then what if you get to L&D too late?

It's not THAT painful, and if you go into labor and tell them the baby was breech they will do an U/S and see, if it is breech they will do an emergency c-section

*Breech.

You still have a bit of time. My LO didn't flip until a few days before he was born.

Well it is possible to give to a breech baby. It isn't the most common thing in the world but it isn't impossible. My friend had her daughter breech and everything turned out fine. She had been head down for weeks and flipped at the last second but she delivered too fast before they could get her in for a c section

Massage your tummy in a clock or anti clock ways motion one hand up one down, that may help depending where she is positioned. When they do it in the hospital they give you a muscle relaxant and sorts dig there hands in to turn her, and even if she does move there is no guarantee that she'll stay that way,
If I were you I wouldn't risk delivering breach cos wasn't DS a little hard to push out and nearly stuck ?

They don't dig their hand in to turn them, they grab the head and butt and push in a circle, also not all doctors will give you muscle relaxers or anything, but will give you terbutaline to prevent contractions

My baby was breech until 32/33 weeks. They still have plenty of time to turn so I wouldn't worry much.
