You may still be able to drop charges, but if you have any type of current court order it will stand until you go before a judge, or he does.

You can get arrested go to jail and get fined....bad idea.

I talked to an officer and that's what he said as well. He gave me the name to her superior if I felt I should talk to someone else.

I would! I've talked to some pretty rude people at the victims of violent crimes place. I hope you can somehow report her. What she did was uncalled for.

I feel like the last thing I need is someone being rude. I've dealt with enough crap in the past few weeks, and she's supposed to be there to help me.
I plan on calling tomorrow, hopefully her supervisor is nice

I'm sorry that all of this is happening to you. I hate how the people that are supposed to help you are always so rude from places like that. You can tell when one of them hates their job or is having a rough day cause they take it out on you and everyone else that needs help. I hope her superior is at least more helpful.

You can drop charges whenever you want, and there is no "penalty", and you won't be considered filing a false report. The lady you were talking to was either 1) trying to scare you or 2) didn't know what the smurf she was talking about. Now if you actually filed a false report, on the other hand, yeah, but it isn't a felony. It's a misdemeanor, and it's only up to a year in jail and a fine. But if you have a protective order against him, it stands until he goes to court, so if you're around him, you both can get in trouble. Also, I know it's true in GA, but might not be were you life, so you should look it up, but if a DV charge is filed, and then the party drops them, the state can actually take over and pursue the case. I don't know if that's the case everywhere, though.

That's true in WV and OH as well.

I thought there were several states that were like that, but I didn't know for sure. I'm only 100% sure about legal things in GA, since DH is a cop I get all my information from him. lol

That's true here as well, however, my lawyer and a police officer told me if I tell them I refuse to cooperate with the prosecution they'll have a hard time making a case, and it's likely to be dropped.

Yeah if the woman won't cooperate, they'd really have nothing to go by. Unless he left marks, bruises, things like that and there was evidence of it.
