Vba2c & Placenta...... HELP

posted 3rd Jan
Im trying for an vba2c, My last Doc' ordered Ultrasound was back in Oct, Last time I saw my DR. was in oct, I have been seeing other Doctors while shes on Vaca, She was suppose to come back last month but didn't she should be there this month. I am planning on making an apt to see her. Shes half and half on me having a Vba2c I think she would be more okay if it was my 1st c-section.

Well I had an elective ultrasound last night, Baby is head down still Not sure which way she is facing, But the placenta ( pictured below) is right up on her face. This would mean that its right up on my butt ( no problem) but this could also mean that its right up on my c-section scar, which could cause some big issues, And I am freaking out.

I CAN feel her ( all the time) right on my c-section scar if the placenta was on my scar would I be able to feel her there?

Help and advice will be great. I am going to call the ultrasound place and ask, but I think they will say they can't tell me cuz its medical, I even asked how big the baby was and they said they couldn't legally tell me. I will be asking my Dr. if she is going to do another ultrasound to find out where the placenta is but the last time I spoke with her she said that there will be no more ultrasounds after the 20 week one. And I am scared if I tell her this ( I will anyways) that its going to ruin my chance of a vbac.

I'm also going for a VB2C and I had an anterior placenta last time I could not feel DD against my scar in the front at all. If you had an anterior placenta that was attached to your scar it would have been noticed at your 20 week apt and they would have scheduled additional testing. My Dr told me that when I asked about an anterior placenta this time. She said all anterior placentas on mamas with more then one C-Section are sent for a higher level ultrasound to confirm its not attached at or near the scar.

Relax I'm sure your fine ;)

This won't ruin your chances of a vbac unless the placenta is touching the cervix in which case it would be called a placenta previa and you'd want a c-section because to not have one would cost your baby's life. Now, it's unlikely that they would have missed a previa at your 20 week ultrasound but possible none the less and should be mentioned. I had a previa that got missed at my 20 weeks u/s which is why I say it's not impossible. It's not uncommon for the placenta to attach at the site of a previous C-section since more blood flow goes to an area with a scar and the placenta likes to attach to the area with the greatest blood flow. Sometimes that attachment means a previa, sometimes not, worthy of being brought up with your doc though.

I'm sure you are fine. An anterior placenta only poses a problem if it starts to grow into your uterine scar (placenta accreta). You actually have more risks having a repeat section and doctors cutting into the placenta. Be sure that you are comfortable with your doctor. The way your post sou vs you don't seem to have a supporting one. I am going for a vba4c

Where in the world did you find a Dr ok with a VBa4C? My Dr was paranoid about the VB2C and try are one of the only groups in SD that will do them

And that sucks   I actually know a ton of women who have had successful vba2c and a few 3's. Most of the midwife groups won't touch anyone past 2 sections though. So I have to birth in the hospital.

Do you go to any support groups? Have a doula? These few things can have a huge impact on your labor and birth. Check out your local ICAN group.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you a bit here previa isn't her worry. The placenta isn't covering her cervix. She is worried if her placenta has grown into her csec scars. This is extremely hazardous to her health because if she DOES do a vba2c and the placenta has grown into her scars it could tear and she could retain pieces of it which would cause an extreme infection

Well one of the potentials did my last section. He was very confident I could vbac this time around. My last TOL failed because I got an epidural at 5 centimeters and it stopped my labor and dropped my blood pressure. My uterus has no window, and I have limited adhesions. I have also had 1 vaginal both as well which makes me a good candidate.
I chose to go with his colleague however because he has delivered a few vbac after multiple c-section mamas. So here I am ready to ride this train again

Yea, they are hard to come by and have a ton O rules. For example they won't assist at all and I can't go past my due date. My DH is 100% against me trying for the VBA2C so he's not muh help. My VBAC attempt with DD was a 48 hour failure which resulted in her being born blue and not breathing, he's just scared.

! The OB would hopefully catch that though before she delivers. Placenta acretta is something they don't take likely. And it's not just infection but the major risk of hemorrhaging.

that's tough. My DH was not really supportive last time either unfortunately. This time around he is in 100%. Do you have a doula? I notice my husband seemed a bit at ease once she arrived. She explained things to him and helped him to help me. My OB doesn't mind if I go over my due date, I just have to get a few NST's done to make sure baby is well. Although statistically going over 41 weeks hurts the chances of successful vbac.
