TTC this year =)

My husband and i have decided we are going to TTC this year but not until around the end of October, my husband has Cleft lip so when i was pregnant with my daughter our OB told us next time we TTC I had to take extra folic acid for about 6 months so i'm going to start taking it in April but i have a question has anyone else gone through this and how much folic acid would I have to take?

Idk. But one of my good friends doesn't have a cleft but 2 out of 5 of her children do. And the two that have clefts have different dads. It's not always a definite that your baby would get it.

To answer your question, I'd just take a prenatal. Or you can call your doc and get an amount.

Yea the OB told us that just cause he had it didn't mean any of our kids would but that taking folic acid could reduce the risk otherwise i would be ttc now lol

My little sister has a bilateral cleft lip and palate and when she found out she was pregnant her OB never mentioned extra folic acid in her diet.
