Excessively thirsty?

I'm 28 weeks, and for some reason the last few days I am extremely thirsty. I wake up, drink one 12 oz cup of coffee (I have low BP with this pregnancy, and get headaches and light headed, so the caffine raises it to normal) and drink water for the rest of the day. I dont eat anything really salty, because I hate salt lol. Well it seems like I just cant get enough water. I feel like I have spent 3 days in the desert with nothing to drink the whole time. It's like once I start drinking, I dont want to stop untill I feel kind of sick. I pretty much have to force myself not to keep drinking it. Anyone else going through this, or know what causes this? Because I have never been so thirsty in my entire life, and it is pretty annoying lol.

I've heard excessive thirst can be a sign of diabetes though I'm not sure. I would definitely ask your doctor either way just to be safe.

Ya, I would tell your doctor asap. Extreme thirst is a sign of diabetes.

I just did my glucose (sp?) test just last week and came back negitive for GD, and anemia. So far this pregnancy has been completely healthy, and "normal". I will definately ask my doc when I go in next week. I'm just curious if there is a way to stop it lol. Seriously, I pee enough as it is with out drinking gallons of water a day  

I have you been tested for gestational diabetes yet? I had it and that was really the only symptom I had. If I forgot water even to walk to my mailbox I would cry. It was awful.

I'm in the same boat, girl. I've been exteremly thirsty w/ this pregnancy, my last one as well.. I don't have GD or anemia either.. But I will tell ya, my first son's umbilical cord was in a HUGE knot when he was born and I'm not sure if that's why I was so thirsty w/ him, maybe he wasn't getting what he needed from me?? I have no idea.

Wow really? For me it just started a few days ago, and I dont remember being thirsty like this with DS. I wondered if maybe I am getting sick, but I feel fine other than normal pregnancy pains.... I dont know but I guess I will add it to the list of things to ask my doctor. Thanks ladies
