Wow am I lucky!

So.. I recently potty trained my daughter, at about 2 years 4 months. I introduced the potty at a little over a year because she was always interested when I would go pee so I had it there just in case she wanted to use it. At about 18 months I could leave her in her undies at home and she would pee in the potty every time. I started taking her out of the house without a pull up at 2 years old, she had a couple accidents but that was it. She kept telling me she wanted to wear her undies to bed but we still co sleep and I didn't feel like waking up in a puddle. I told her if she could keep her pull up dry and wake up to go potty every night she could sleep in her undies. I did this for a week and every single morning she would wake up dry. Alyssa is like me and has to constantly have something to drink in her hand at all times, she'll literally be drinking water right before bed and still not have an accident. She'll wake up around 3am or so, get a drink of water go pee and go back to sleep. Idk how I got so lucky but this was super easy! From my experience with kids it's usually super difficult to keep them dry through the night, I'm shocked it was so easy.

My daughter never peed in the bed, and was potty trained by age 2.
Some kids are amazing easy to potty train.
Hopefully our youngest will be as easy!

Yeah honestly I think she could have been fully potty trained earlier if I was more consistent with it, its just when you're out carting around a small child it's really hard. She was about 18 months and she would always scream that she had to pee at the worst possible times lol (like in the car with no bathroom in sight, or at Walmart right after I left and we were already getting into the car. I would still always try to get her to the potty because I didn't want her to think I was ignoring her needs) I mean I know you have to do what you have to do, hell I even saw a lady pull a potty seat out of her trunk set it on top of the trunk and stick her child on it lol.

Sounds like how my daughter was. She literally woke up one day and decided she was done with diapers. It was so easy. My son is proving to be a little more difficult, lol.

That was my experience with both kids. I got real lucky with my first, especially (he was 3 1/2). Exactly 4 days from when he first peed in the potty, he was fully PTed both day and night.
My 25 month old, on the other hand, wasn't as quick. But she just turned 2, so I wasn't pushing the issue. With her, she would pee here and there in the potty from about 16/17 months on, but nothing consistent. When she just turned 2, she started going regularly and with her.. she was showing me she wanted to regularly go to the bathroom bathroom, so she was PTed, both day and night, in about 4 days too. Both kids rarely, rarely have accidents. I guess we both got lucky!

It was easy for my boys too. I think it has to do with how early it was introduced & that it was just casual at first. Not forced in any way.

The ones that never put their kids on a toilet befor 2 1/2 then expect them to get it in a week are laughable. It takes months & a slow introduction. the longer kids are in diapers the more used to it they are & more scared of the toilet instead of just seeing it as another step in growing bigger

That's true!
We always took her before we left, and then when we got to Wal-Mart or wherever, just in case, and then before we left, and then again when we got home. Lots of bathroom trips, but she trained quickly!
I'd do the same, potty seat in the trunk? Why not?   But MAYBE not on top of the car. I could definitely see DD jumping off of it.  

That's awesome! I hope my son is that easy to potty train. I still have a longg time before I have to worry about that though.

haha yeah not to mention I'm very protective and I wouldn't wanna be pulling my daughter pants down in a parking lot for everyone to see! She could have set it down in the back seat or something

My 3 year old refused to sit in the potty until she was 3 1/2. I tried introducing him different potties (bought 2) and the ring for the toliet and all kinds of incentives. He would cry his eyes out. I don't know why, really. But he showed no signs of wanting the potty.
One day, I put him on there just to see what happens and something clicked in him.
But then again, he was like this with walking too. He was a late walker until I gave him a little push and next thing you know, he acted like he's been walking for some time. Same thing with PT. As soon as he peed once, a lightbulb came on. It might be a self confidence thing.

From my experience boys are always harder. I would just get him a potty young, like at a year and a half maybe. Don't try and get him to use it just let him know that its there and tell him what its for, also let him come with you or his daddy to the bathroom and explain that big girls/boys go pee in the potty, that we don't wear diapers. Introducing it early is key imo

I have always heard boys were harder too. I definitely will start young. Thanks for the advice

Yeah a 3yo..... I put mine on the toilet the first time at about a year, usually while about to take a bath. Never once did a potty chair. Both boys were even night trained by 3.

I really don't like the chairs. I wasted money on those things.
I ended up buying Madi 2 potties too (one for me and one for her dad). Waste of money. It's seriously collecting dust. once in a while, one of the kids would flush the toilet so they can hear the music.
