So. Smurfing. ITCHY.

posted 3rd Jan
So, for several weeks now, I have been breaking out in raised, itchy, burning, bright red hives. ALL over. There have been no changes to my diet, my body wash, or laundry soap. I DID try switching to a dye-free, fragrance-free laundry soap, and washed EVERYTHING my skin comes in contact with, because my Mom was convinced I'd developed an allergy to my laundry soap. No dice.

I've been taking benedryl at night....it doesn't really help the itchies or burning, but it at least knocks me out so I sleep instead of laying there scratching my skin off. I called my OB and asked if there was anything else I can take and they said to try Claritin...but it really didn't help either. I also tried aloe gel, like you use on a sunburn, that has the lidocane in it...it helped for a few minutes, but not nearly enough.

The only thing I can compare it to, is smurfing chicken pox. Except itchier. And I'm not SICK. Just itchy and burning. I'm seriously going to lose my smurf if I don't find SOMETHING to help this. It reduces me to tears almost every day. Like, I'm seriously starting to wonder if I'm, like, allergic to this pregnancy or something? I know that sounds smurfing crazy.

You may have said where but I'm tired and only skimmed. Where are your hives? I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Bahahaha sorry, had to.

Oh and PS. Have you actually HAD chicken pox yet? Because Shingles can be an itchy burning rash. And it's SUPER painful.

Smurfing all over. Especially on my stomach - no one wants to see that business lmao.

Look up PUPPP. I had it with three of my pregnancies. Your Dr can provide a steroid cream and even oral steroids to helo make it go away. Its a pain. I kept a comb handy to scratch my body because I itched so much. Tore myself up.

I'm only 10 weeks though...and it started almost a month ago.

I've totally been using a soft hair brush. SO keeps getting after me about it because he's afraid of me breaking skin since my immune system sucks.

Im in the same exact boat and when i talked to my dr about they told me to go to the er. When i did all they told me was it was an allergic reaction to something... I highly doubt that. It will go away for a couple of days and then pop up again... and where they pop up its so sparatic that i dont know how to deal with it. I have found that coconut butter is extremely calming for it tho. I hope I was able to help at least a little :/
