I'm really sorry. I can't imagine what it feels like going through what you are. Is there any way you can get your own lawyer and have them fight for you, like you said, you gave up custody to people who you trusted because you were young and wanted what was best for your child, and now you are grown and stable and more than capable of caring for her, she is unstable with her father, and there is no real need for your grandfather to have so much say. There's got to be something you can do.

You absolutely did the right thing back then.... the best thing you could have done for her. I have seen from experience that the courts would like to see children placed with their biological parents (unless there is a significant reason the parent is unfit). I hope it goes your way & I wish you the best!! Please come back here & update us afterward!

Well I hope he does win so you can continue to fight for her. And him passing her off to your aunt should look better for you too. You're her mother, you should have the most rights. I hope this all works out for you.

And you should (get it notarized, the living arrangement). However, I really do think you should have your own lawyer and get full custody for yourself. As long as your grandpa has legal custody, it really is his say so in regards to her. And be cautious of your aunt.... it sounds like she's gearing up to get your daughter living with her. Your grandpa didn't really give you a committed answer. I would get the living arrangement hammered out ASAP

Sometimes judges will speak to children off the stand more one on one, so the child doesn't feel the pressure of saying something to upset someone. Maybe see if that's an option.

Good idea --- also, some courts will assign a Guardian Ad Litem --- a person who is completely on the child's side.
